The keeper at the apothecary demonstrated and explained many cool things to us and our kids. Great experience. Leave a donation to keep this wonderful spot going!

Very cool place, it's certainly worth a visit when in town. Not a place to visit with kids though, as much as my husband and I liked it, the kids were totally bored.

This is a really interesting pharmacy to visit because it really captures the history of an oldpharmacy of the past. Apparently, it is only open in the summer. It is located at the very end of the Main Street on Niagara on the lake. Inside this pharmacy are lined with many bottles of all the medications. You will also find contraptions used to make medications back in the day.The unique aspects of this pharmacy are detailed descriptions of the medicines as well as the chemicals used in the past. I looked at the medicines on the wall, and I could not Identify a single one except for cocaine and opium. Certainly, you will not find any of these types of chemicals anywhere else. Also, there are photos showing that Queen Elizabeth even visited this apothecary when she visited Canada.Overall, I would say that this pharmacy is worth visiting if you are in the area. It really gives you some nostalgia about how life was back in the past.

Beautiful museum with well preserved history. I love learning about the ways that pharmacy’s worked over 100-200 years ago. They have lots of neat old bottles and powders, and various equipment on display.

The Niagara Apothecaryis a beautiful space with a soaring ceiling and chandeliers; glass cabinets which contain many examples of packaging and curious products. The elaborate clock fronted counter at the back has bespoke figures holding what used to be gas-powered orb lights. Behind it visitors may see how herbs were grounded and pills prepared. Learn about common remedies, show globes, and the origin of the Rx symbol. An authentic museum restoration of a 1869 pharmacy as part of a practice that operated in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, from 1820 to 1964. Fun and educational!
