Great people are good tour of the facilities. We were guided by Heather and she was very entertaining and knowledgeable. We were here for the iceberg watch, very cold this time early June.Lots of interesting places to see the museum and of course the Auk Island Winery.

A great winery with lots to offer in terms of wine selection. Had a great serving of toutons with bakedapple sauce. Great place to get souvenirs or Newfoundland literature. They are also taking donations for the Newfoundland Pony Sanctuary on the Change Island. These Newfoundland horses were on the brink of extinction. There are two horses at the back of the winery. Better signage to view them needed and make sure all cashiers ask for donations. It is a great cause.

Do you like wine, ice bergs, berries, and ice cream? If you do, this is the place for you! Wine made with icebergs and berry, and an option to have it in ice cream form? I spent almost an entire rainy day there! The winery is wheelchair friendly, however the indoor access from the winery to restaurant there are a few steps. You would need to access the restaurant or winery from their individual entrances.

Fun rainy day activity. Heather served us and explained the wines. She is both knowledgeable hilarious! Wines were ok and some of the fruit wines were enjoyable. A must do if in the area.

The staff was outstanding. We were screeched in here, and are now honorary Newfoundlanders. We could not stop laughing and enjoying ourselves from the time we met the team until we left. Great job, 6 stars. Ps.love the names of the wines. We bought a case and shipped it home.

On our visit to Twilingate, we enjoyed lunch and a winery tour & tasting at Auk Island. I would highly recommend that you partake in the tour and tasting, even if you’ve done them before at other places. We learned that locals provide much of the berries and dandelions used in the wine (all except for raspberries and strawberries so you can imagine how many hand-picked blueberries are being sold by locals to this winery!). What a unique idea and great way to engage the local community to make something special. You can buy iceberg wine (slightly less sweet than a traditional dessert wine), which is made with water taken from an iceberg. I’ll leave you to ask them how they collect that as it’s very interesting! The wine itself, we found ourselves having a hard time to choose which we loved the most, so we ordered a whole case and got it shipped back to Edmonton for $40 flat rate. We loved the names of the wines – they’re very creative as you’ll find out and tons of fun! Great visit, great food, and the people made it extra special. Thank-you for the hospitality and hope to see you again soon.

I am not usually a big fan of fruit wines however the wines at Auk Island were indeed quite tasty. We also tried the new touton bites (butter chicken) and they were excellent as well. The staff was super friendly and welcoming and we enjoyed our visit immensely. Kudos to all of the staff for helping us have such a fun time!
