Great Mountain Glass & Rails

Be carefully dealing with this company. They installed glass railing on my deck. Problem is that they installed in such a manner as to prohibit a venting window from opening. Their response was that I, the home owner, should have told them. This is absurd. They pride themselves as experts " and yet through ignorance and/or disregard

I never met Tom, only talked to him on the phone and through texts and emails. One can't help but be cautious having read a couple bad reviews but there were good reviews too and I had a good vibe from our phone conversations so I took the chance. I like the fact that Tom was honest at every turn and everything about the project from start to finish went as planned. Two other companies who quoted for the project wanted to replace all six glass sections with new glass even though they were in great condition, only the bottom deck rails were rotting out. When we asked Tom to quote for new glass plus the install he said why not re-use the glass and install only new aluminum top and bottom rails. Of course we choose his quote as it made more sense, was what we were asking the other contractors to do but were told it wasn't possible and was about 1/2 the price as the competition. Other companies only carried white or black rails and had to send them out for powder coating which was an additional delay and expense but Tom had the perfect brown colour in stock. Bottom line is the contract was exactly what we discussed for even less money than the original estimate, the installation team was great and worked well with me under foot (it was on a log cabin and as we pulled the old top and bottom rails I went behind them and filled the holes in the logs from the old dowels and sealed them while they were uninstalling other sections or installing new rails) and we are very satisfied with the excellent result! The whole experience was positive and I fully recommend Tom, his installation team and Great Mountain Glass & Rail.

Thomas at Great Mountain worked with us to supply the material we needed for our screening, glass guards and stair handrails. We did our own installation, with helpful instructions from Thomas. Our glass guards and screens were a side, or facia mount style. Because of this requirement, our posts needed to be special ordered. The price was right for us and the quality of the product is great. We had to wait for the shipment to arrive from overseas. We ordered in Fall and received in Spring. The order matched our specifications perfectly. Thomas was there for us with answers to questions we had about our particular installation, which was not typical. The screening was easy to work with and the glass installation was a breeze. The stair handrails were 17' long and received as one piece each. It is a pretty ingenious system. We are super pleased with the materials we received, the price we paid and the helpful tips we got from Great Mountain.

Tom and his crew did an absolutely amazing job at a remote location during winter. They replaced a large deck with composite material and all of the railings as well. They added privacy walls and a metal awning they fabricated themselves. The attention to detail was extremely impressive. I could not be happier with the results. Tom was easy to communicate with and always lived up to his word.

Tom was awesome in helping us design and install a new railing on our wheelchair ramps and decks. Everything turned out great. He actually came over and helped us install our glass! We would recommend great mountain to all our friends

I have dealt with Tom on a bunch of projects and the product and price is hard to beat. Recommend to all my family and friends. Support local you won't be disappointed in the product

Mr Chizek is a true gentleman. The work on our deck glass enclosure was completed in a quick and efficient manner with skill and knowledge. Our wait time was minimal, even in a very busy season. He has an excellent work ethic. Nice to deal with someone with morals and ethics. We highly recommend this company and its owner. Thanks for an amazing job...I can really enjoy our deck, clear of the wind!! That’s saying something in Saskatchewan!!!

Stay away from this company! Tom is a big scam artist and very unprofessional in all aspects. We are taking him to court, it is sad that it had to come to that. It is true what the bad reviews are saying, he does use Christian ways to make you think you can trust him. He’s all over the map, he delayed our glass railing install and going back and forth we accepted the delay even though before signing the contract he promised things would be finished in a timely manner. Once we accepted his delays on two separate occasions, he kept bringing up bogus excuses, even wanting us to pay full before completion which violates his own contract, and made inappropriate and inaccurate accusations of us, just complete lies! We still have bubbles formed and lines that are exposed and he will not respond to his warranty and guarantee emails. He told us he would finish the job after we gave him ultimatums, once he agreed that he would finish the project, he once again changed his mind a few days later all on his own (we have pictures and emails to prove all of this). They installed incorrect colour of trim and only when he declined to finish the job which was weeks later of us waiting, he tried to make up for his loss of cost by sending us a bogus invoice stating the interior trim that prevents water going to the house and protect the deck was extra(keep in mind he never mentioned any cost of this to us prior to) which is complete false- this is something that is crucial in order to prevent moisture/leaks to the deck and the house, isn’t this why people hired you to cover there decks to protect it? This is what the warranty covers, and is inclusive in the contract, especially of Turfdeck. We are taking him to court because we payed him well over what the Vinyl/Turfdeck cost was because the rest was to go for railings and when he refused to finish the glass and railing himself, he refused to pay us the amount he owes us, he stated that since he refuses to complete the job himself that he no longer will honour his contract and the pricing he had given us and that we signed on. We even offered to give him a certified check with a mediator involved so that he could finish the project, or for him to give us our money back. But he kept playing games.He still owes us money for work that he never provided. We gave him so many chances to make things right and he still didn’t. Stay away from this company! We are shocked that he can still operate in SK!Look at the responses from the company/owner, he never apologizes nor takes responsibility and never wants to make it right to his customers and apparently his employees(that’s really sad).That right there shows you someone’s true colours and unprofessionalism.Stay away from this company and avoid the headache.

This company did our front stair railing and we are extremely happy with the finished result. They have excellent products and fast/timely installations. Would highly recommend this company!
