This impressive patisserie and boulangerie, inside les Halles Cartier, is tied for No 1 in Quebec City - with Chez Boulay Comptoir, in my humble opinion. And since they are focused on tarts, eclairs, croissants, gateaux, there’s more of a selection.Oh my gosh. The mini-gateaux (layered, rectangular) are just stunningly good: they have a crunchy bottom layer, topped with a layer of mouse or cream cheese or fruit coulis - and are usually topped with fruit or chocolate squares.And please try the eclair au chocolate. You won’t be disappointed. And the coffee. And the bread. Everything! (I think they do special-order cakes, too.)Another bonus: while it *is* takeaway, you can sit at a table in the public area – swooning over your gorgeous pastries. Yummm.
