Harry Jerome Statue

We ran the Vancouver half marathon around this area. And of course took pictures with this statue. I wish there was more information on the marker.

The Harry Jerome Statue is located in the Stanley Park in Vancouver. It was build for Harry Winston Jerome (Borne September 30, 1940, Died December, 7, 1982) the British Columbia Athlete of the century 1871 - 1971. He set 6 world records between 1960 and 1966.

Henry Harry" Winston Jerome

I took this night exposure about 20 years ago with a 35mm. The statue, Harry Jerome, was a Canadian Olympian and gold medalist who ran about 91.44 metres (100 yards) in 9.3 seconds.Nowadays, it’s 100m for the run. I never knew he was black until I looked him up. He was born in Saskatchewan and sadly died at age 42 due to a brain aneurysm. He won 4 medals for Canada.
