South Barrie Eye Clinic

I no longer have insurance. So even though I’ve been a patient there for over 15 years, they will no longer give me an eye exam. Even after telling them I am diabetic and feel i am losing my eyesight. They refused service and “pushed” me to go somewhere else. Even though eye exams are covered by OHIP. Do they run up peoples insurance? Seems like it to me.

One friend recommended this clinic, and another friend told me DON'T GO! The worst glasses I've ever head. Stay far, far away from them.

I have an autistic son whom at first was scared to do the pictures of the inner eye. Not wanting to scare him before the visit they said it was ok if they did them after (when he did do them they even allowed him to stand which made him more comfortable). This was his first eye apt. They wonderfully switched tactics on how to check his eyesight to allow them to get the info but keep him calm.When it came time to get his and his sisters glasses they were stunningly kind. They knew we had to balance getting the frames and our pocket book. For My daughter she had found a frame out of our budget they found a very similar pair for only 20$ more than the sets they had a deal on. And when my son asked for unicorn glasses they found a stunning pair with suble rainbows and flowers up the arms he adord. They have always been amazing and helpful even when i needed to budget and they were able to give me a old frame that was at a discount.Seriously great people, serve my whole family! Will continue going.

Went to these guys for a exam couple of years ago .... I have bin wearing glasses since I was a little guy.... anyways .. they were a bit pricey and I actually found someone close to me so I decided to buy the eyewear there ... now a couple of years later I needed my file for the eye exam I had ... they told me it would b fourty dollars to get my file ... coping and for some reason to get a doctor to sign a report .. I phoned a couple of other doctors and they said they usually don’t charge anything for transferring ... but this one does ... I was even going to pick it up.... this is where the world is ... anything that has to b done is charged handsomely... no service no more ... just plain old no Money no paperwork.... even though I paid them very well for the exam and extras I worked in the service industry for 30 years ..... I never nickled and dimed ....

I highly recommend getting your eyes checked at South Barrie Eye Clinic. I saw Dr. Jason Stuart who spent time examining my eyes and discussing my concerns. He was thorough in his diagnosis of dry eye disease and prescribed excellent drops for me. My eyes feel so much better now. Thank you Dr. Stuart and the team at South Barrie Eye Clinic.

I have been going to South Barrie for years. I don't know why I didn't switch over sooner!!! I love the people here. Love the fact I get my glasses processed and fitted right there! There is no sending glasses away. The safety protocols they have in place during the pandemic make me feel so safe and at ease it's nice to know they care about their customer's safety! Great business with a personal touch! Thank you for all that you do!

I just had the best experience at South barrie eye clinic! I was greeted by a very pleasant lady who let me in the door, another lovely, kind and friendly gal checked me in and did some pre screening before I was sent down the hall to have my eye exam done by Dr. List who was incredibly thorough, explained everything to me and had me in and out in less than 30 mins. I had drops in my eyes, and full comprehensive eye exam and even a scan of my eyeballs! It was a great experience and I will definitely be going back with my whole family when they are due for their exams. the office was clean, warm and comfortable with a beautiful selection of glasses !

IF YOU HAVE INSURANCE WITH MANULIFE, STAY AWAY FROM SOUTH BARRIE EYE CLINIC. I would have given them a zero star review had I the choice. This office has been delisted for suspicious activities and Manulife will not deal with them which results in you not being covered for any services at this office. They have been delisted since 2019 and should be professional, honest and forthcoming with their clients ahead of time to let you know that they have been delisted before booking any appointments. Unfortunately they choose to not do so. I was referred to this clinic from our family’s ophthalmologist since they specialize in a diagnostic testing required for a condition called keratoconus . I only found out that they are delisted once my insurance refused to reimburse me for the services provided by South Barrie Eye Clinic once I submitted my claim.I’ve decided to transfer to another eye clinic that does the same testing, provides care for keratoconus and is not delisted from my insurance (Checked before booking an appointment with them :) South Barrie Eye Clinic is ok with the fact that I will not receive a reimbursement for the testing they did, knowing that they are delisted and that my insurance would not deal with them going forward. They were ok with me booking a second appointment before leaving our first appointment, before I would find out that they are delisted and also knowing that my insurance would not refund me and that I would need to pay out of pocket for that appointment and any other care provided in the future rather than being honest and upfront with me about it. When I called to cancel our following appointment, to obtain a copy of the results/findings in order to share them with the new eye care clinic they wanted to charge me another 45$ to do so! It would have been nice to leave South Barrie Eye Clinic with at least one positive customer service experience had they waived the fee to transfer my son’s file and testing rather than adding salt to the wound by wanting to charge me to do so. Shame on you South Barrie Eye Clinic. Shame on you.
