Plato’s Closet Windsor, ON

I was so excited to get a Plato’s closet in Windsor! There’s not as many brand names as stores in the GTA but that’s to be expected because Windsor doesn’t have a lot of the clothing stores that other cities have.I always find great things here for a good deal!I just wish the store was bigger! The aisles are so narrow and claustrophobic. If you’re a size L or XL be prepared to be looking through racks on your knees as they are way down on the ground.

This was over a month ago but I just want to share my experience. It was a waste of time and actually embarrassing. I brought in brand name clothing and coats. They told me it will take an hour or so to go through, which I didn’t have a problem with. To my surprise they texted me 15 min later that they’re ready. The clothes didn’t look like it was inspected and looked through at all, as there were other bags for customers who were in line before me still untouched. They brought out my large bag, put it on the counter next to a long line of people and said they are not accepting it due to stains and “old” clothing. I was extremely confused as there was no stains on there, and most weren’t worn bought a couple years ago. The clothing on the rack next to where I was standing looked like it was over worn and washed and they’re selling it.It wasn’t a good and honest experience that’s for sure.

Will never go back. Be sure to double check they give you your clothes back if they aren’t buying them all from you - they did not return all of my things. Definitely ripped off. Better off selling on posh mark or Facebook marketplace. Not impressed. Have told everyone I know it’s not worth it. They make you wait and offer you pennies for quality clothing you could sell for 10x more on other platforms. Don’t waste your time.They also didn’t want to buy nearly brand new Roots clothing, saying it was not in good condition. Got close to retail price by selling on marketplace. I don’t get it.

First time going there to sell looked quickly through container told nothing there wanted clothes were clean and most stuff wore once how can A little black dress to out of style? Not a good experience. Everything washed and in excellent condition said it smelled of smoke .

Contrary to other reviews,I have not personally dealt with selling clothes to Plato's Closet, however, I did ask about the process and the workers clarified that they would offer 30% of the value of what they would sell the product for on their retail floor. It isn't much, but it is better than nothing and convenient for offloading many items at once.That being said, the shopping experience was very good! The store is small but clean in comparison to many other thrift / second-hand stores. Merchandise and sections were easy to locate and even found some very interesting brands like Lululemon, Nike, and old Coach accessories & bags etc. I'm looking forward to shopping here more and hopefully find some steals.… And hopefully some more vintage sneaker finds.

I had an awesome experience with Plato's Closet! The staff were very friendly and nice upon walking in. The store itself is not ready to shop; however everything looks so organized and clean. I felt like I was offered a great price for what I brought in. Can't wait for them to open to shop all the amazing things I seen !

Definitely would not recommend bringing your clothes here. Brought in well over 400$ in name brand clothing (Levi’s, American eagle, urban outfitters, Calvin Klein) and was offered 19$. What a joke. Isles are way to small to even pass by someone comfortably, and staff tend to help the “trendy” customers more. Was not asked once if I needed help or anything. Good for a one time visit, but won’t be back. Stick to Poshmark and market place.

Hands down my favourite place to shop. The prices are great! And they have new stuff out for sale everyday!Very polite and kind employees.

***since the owner deleted it I’m posting again*** as a business owner I’d never want to bash another business HOWEVER Plato’s closet is the exception , I’ve now had multiple negative experiences there, the lack of customer service and friendliness is actually shocking, we were greeted with absolute hostility upon arrival and overall the experience was super uncomfortable , upon entry I was not greeted and when I asked a question (that was extremely valid based on past experiences might I add) the attitude I was met with was unacceptable . I’ve consigned MANY times before at different places and know how it usually goes and what to expect, I made sure the items I was bringing in were on trend, clean, brand name, tags still on. I brought 5 large bags of clothing that I inspected MULTIPLE times, it it will allow me I’ll include photos of the clothing items that they accepted to purchase just so you can see what I brought in. The problem wasn’t that they wouldn’t take my clothes they actually wanted majority of it the issue was the money they offered for it and when I made my disbelief clear it was like I was crazy for refusing their offer. I was offered a sad amount for almost 40 articles of clothing including multiple Nike items, fashion nova, boohoo, pretty little thing, gymshark, aritzia, abrocrombie, also including shoes… majority ALL BRAND NEW WITH original tags still on. I didn’t expect to make a million dollars and did not expect them to accept all the clothes I brought but for the price they sell items there the money they were offering me was unacceptable. Not only are items OVER PRICED (which is sad because second hand shops are supposed to be accessible to those who can’t afford to purchase brand new items online or at the mall) the customer service isn’t up to par and I don’t think they have any intention of ever fixing this. Thankfully I was not desperate to sell just wanted to give it another chance despite my past experiences. I’ve heard nothing but negative things which is really unfortunate considering how new their establishment is. I hope they do better in the future. I will absolutely never return and will make sure my clients don’t waste their time there either.
