Cafe Caribbean

As part of Feed the Soul Dining week here in Edmonton, I had the utmost pleasure of eating at Cafe Carribean. After moving Downtown I’ve been missing some good Carribean food. My bodied craved some sweet, spicy, jerky food. It wasn’t until last week that I was thrilled to find an excellent spot for some great food from Cafe Carribean.I had ordered a combo dish of Curry Chicken and Braised Beef. This dish came with rice, beans and some fried plantain which hit the spot. The curry chicken was on point, it had such a delicious mild flavour. Braised beef though was so tender and I was enjoying every bite mixing it with the rice and beans. Good lord. Plantain was sweet and felt like a little dessert. A complete meal in this combo. I paired this with their fruit drink called “Friggin Punch” and damn, it was friggin refreshing.This spot located on 117th just a little north of Jasper ave is a prime spot for Carribean food. It’s a cozy spot so do not expect group dining here so I’d suggest getting takeout. It’s operated by cousins Pat and Nadine who in my mind is absolutely killing it since they opened last August. They are bringing some unique Trinidad food and I’m eager to try more. They have weekend specials of whatever you may crave such as oxtail, doubles, and curry goat. The list goes on and it might be worth following their Instagram to check out what they’ll have this weekend. Amazing food, just had the beef stew with rice and peas, and plantain. Great flavour and you can tell it's made with care. Fried chicken is flavourful and juicy

Phenomenal! I would give it higher than 5 stars if I could. My photos don’t give the taste justice! These two cousins have made their café my new fav jaunt. We tried the chicken roti, the doubles, stew chicken and macaroni pie w/potato salad and fruit punch. Yum x a million. With a daily changing menu. We can’t wait to try it all!!!

Second time here. The owner is wonderful, I tried Roti twice, last time was beef stew and this time they have curry lamb as weekend special. Food is amazing, the lady gave me some pork to try for free. For sure it’s my go-to restaurant.

Finally good Caribbean food in Edmonton! Curry chicken falls apart so easily, juicy, soft. Rice and peas delicious. AND this was takeout. My god. I can’t wait to try other items on the menu. Great price. I recommend stew beef for spicy.

A true trini eatery! Everything that I bought tasted really good. I loved the Trini music and really terrific customer service. Definitely a must try for authentic Trinidadian food.

The owners were wonderful and I had an extremely great time chatting with them! The food here is absolutely delicious and definitely hit the spot for me. I got curry chicken. Definitely get the sorel for a drink! The shop is quite small and more geared towards take out, however there is seating for two.
