Super 8 by Wyndham Barrie

This is not a 5-star hotel, but why am I giving it 5 stars? Because EXPECTATIONS, baby. I did not expect to find my room's carpets without mystery marks, nor bathtub without stains, because I only paid $91for my room. I did not expect a Michelin star breakfast, nor did I expect a newly renovated room with brand new fixtures and USB outlets, since I only paid $91 for my room. However, I did expect to find lots of clean towels and a clean bed that didn't smell funny, and to be able to have a restful sleep because I have a clear conscience because I didn't have to rob a bank first, because I only paid $91 for my room. This hotel met all my expectations and would definitely come back, because I am a simple man, and when I'm travelling for business, I like paying only $91 for my room.

This hotel needs an upgrade. Multiple issues with our key cards. Only one elevator and it’s always in use. So had to use the stairs multiple times to get my key cards fixed. Of course I’m the 4th floor too. No pool no gym. Breakfast was ok but not super hot. Room was ok but bath area could do with a better cleaning. Carpets are gross. Wouldn’t return for $200 a night it was ridiculously expensive.

Rooms are large enough and motel is on a quiet street. Breakfast lasts for 3 hours. Reception service is welcoming and problem-solving. Better than any other motels with this price range.

Losing our home due a fire and first being booked in at the Allure for a couple nights proved distressing beyond belief, looked online and found sanctuary at the Super 8, booked via Expedia, arrived and met with most friendliest and courteous staff by name of Amni a refreshing change than that the other hotel, checked us and informed us of complimentary breakfast and wished us a pleasant stay. We booked the king suite with jacuzzi tub and fire place the room was massive, clean and had everything make one few comfortable finally able to get some rest from the previous rough nights. In the morning met Wilma and explained our situation and informed the insurance would be arranging payments going forward confirmed later that everything had been sorted and all charges initially charged would be reversed and not to worry and to their word it happened as i was told. Breakfast decent, overall stay amazing all staff were super accommodating above and beyond. Everything was comfortable, clean and decent. Special thanks to Amni and Wilma for being extremely kind and welcoming in addition doing a professional job.

Hotel was very run down compared to a year ago, when we last stayed here. Doors don't close properly, fixtures are falling apart, several plug outlets in the room don't work. The thin MDF board supporting the upper bunk bed for the kids had a massive crack going across it. Paint chipping everywhere, carpet on the stairs is threadbare.

I booked a room online, when I got to the hotel I realized the booking was for the next day. Called the company and had the reservation changed to current day. Hotel was fine with that. Apparently the reservation would not update in their system, although they had confirmation from the booking company. They would not check me in. They would also not approve a refund to the booking company. Finally I was told if I booked a room with them at their rates...($140+taxes compared to the $68 I paid online) they would authorize the refund. I refused as I had already paid for the room. IfI got my refund I could have rebooked online for the discounted price still. After 1.5hours of begging and going back and forth with them I left with no room and no refund at 11pm that night to find another place to stay. The service and treatment I received was horrible. They had the option to tell the booking agent to refund me as they were not able to check me in, but wanted to get money out of me first.Will never return there.

Well, we booked as it was the semi cheapest option in Barrie. When we got our room it looked like it had crime scene tape on the door at one point. The mattresses are like sleeping on boards also. But the room itself was pretty good. The breakfast in the morning was nice and the staff was excellent
