The biggest problem with Green Shield is trying to get ahold of them .I well say that they did cover my CPAP machine fully which really surprised me because they fight on prescriptions.So for my CPAP machine thank-you.But now my wife's medication has been increased and they don't want to cover it and now they want my wife to sign a consent form to allow them to go through all her medical history , which they don't have a right too . They are not her doctor or caregiver.Any information they can get is through the MIB ( medical information bureau), but they are trying to get more which they can share if you sign the request.

Was on wait for 2 hours just to find out if I had travel insurance or not. I had to speak to 4 different people while still being a member. Someone has to know what they are doing???.apparently there is a different company that handles the travel part.very disappointing.

I RECENTLY RETIRED FROM MY PUBLIC WORK JOB AND THE PENSION PLAN I HAVE RECCOMEND TO GET THIS INSURANCE COMPANYTHIS IS THE WORST COMPANY YOU CAN GET IN CANADAIF YOU ARE PLANNING TO RETIRE AND HAVE THIS OPTION DON'T DO ITGET ANYBODY ELSE AS THEY DON'T COVER ANYTHINGPROBABLY THAT'S WHY IS CHEAPPERIF YOU DECIDE TO GO WITH THEM BE AWARE THAT YOU CAN NOT CANCEL BEFORE 1 YEAR OR CHANGE BEFORE 2 YEARS

My son is allergic to penicillin and requires an expensive compound medicine. He is under 4 years old and cannot swallow pills, I was told by Greenshield that they only cover the pill form, and won’t even cover just the cost of the pills while I pay the difference, and that next time I should tell the doctor and pharmacist that I need the pill form, as if the insurance company knows more about my child’s health than the doctors and pharmacists.The rep also lied to me by insinuating that it was just “my plan” that didn’t cover it, trying to pass the blame to my company. When I pressed farther she finally admitted that no Greenshield plans cover compound medicines.Greenshield also sent me an email last year stating that they now require doctors notes for massage therapy, so that they can “concentrate on mental health”, but did they increase ANY of the mental health benefits? Nope.Greenshield is BY FAR the worst medical benefit provider I’ve had, I never had any of these issues with Blue Cross.

Website doesn't let me fill in a form. I called their support and after wasting so much of my time the tell me they can't do it over the phone. Fill in their support ticket thing, and after wasting many more hours over emails they tell me oh sorry we can't do it

I am a member of green shield along with 4000 plus other members from my work. December 2021 I submitted a a orthotics claim.This insurance company has been giving me the run around about my claim status for six months.I’ve submitted all the proper documentation and every time I do they give me a new reason why they’re not accepting my claim. First it’s the gate analysis for my feet. Then it’s the proof of manufacturing. After that they claimed I would need a doctors referral.Then after that they cleaned my lab report and proof of manufacturing was not good enough. It didn’t have the right information.I sure wish my union would’ve stuck with Pacificbluecross. because this insurance company is not interested in the health and well-being of our employees.

Extremely slow processing times. Extremely long wait times to get through to someone one the phone and definitely don't expect a response if you reach out online. Their online website platform was updated which is even worse than before and less user friendly than the previous version. Claims submitted online are displayed in a disorganized order, which makes keeping track of your claims quite difficult. I've emailed their website team about this several times. When you finally do reach someone, they have no idea what's going on, they are completely disorganized, long hold times to get an answer for simple questions. I would honestly save your time, money and frustration and go with a more capable health service company.

If I could give negative stars for this company, I would but that's not an option here. It's the worst extended health provider I have ever dealt with. They keep advising to contact customer service, which I've done via email and phone and they are not helpful at all and takes 2-3x longer than other extended health providers to respond. Not only has my experience with the customer service team showed major incompetence, the claim processing team is not consistent. For the exact same medical item, I will be covered 80% on one statement but covered 2% 2 weeks later when I need to refill the exact same medical item. How does that even compute? Worse yet is their new online claims platform which is a regression from their previous online claims platform. You can't even submit a claim if you put in $0 paid by your alternative carrier. The comment is you have entered a negative number". How is $0 a negative number? When I provided feedback via phone and email
