We had a pretty small drywall project due to some water damage in our kitchen. I called W E Nelson, and Don was out within a couple of hours to take a look. He wrote up the quote and emailed it promptly. He was also able to get his guys out here on that Saturday and finished it on Sunday! The service and professionalism were exquisite! Not to mention the cost to have the repair done was much lower than a couple of other estimates I received. I would highly recommend W E Nelson Stucco, and will consider them first for any future projects!

After almost 20 years WE Nelson came to fix the one small crack in the stucco they had so professionally applied to my old home. And didn't even charge for their time - Don was great, thank you!

My experience using W E Nelson Stucco was great. They were very professional, on time, and the repair work they finished looks identical to the old style stucco that is original to the house. I’m a general contractor and My company will continue to use and refer customers to W E Nelson. Don was the gentleman who worked with me through the whole project,Thanks Don!Connor DoodyRevilot Home ImprovementLicense# BC727203

I hired Nelson Stucco to do *major* work to the exterior of my home. This is a long detailed review, but TLDR/BLUF: I highly recommend them and am very pleased. Also, if you're going to do a big, long, and expensive project, you want to work with people you like and trust. The brown pictures are the 'before' professional/misleading real estate listing pictures. The 'red, white, and blue' pictures are my non-pro 'after' picture. What the realtor's picture doesn't show is almost every exterior element of the house was in bad shape, aka how I was able to buy the house in this crazy market. I'd lived in a fixer upper before, but this was a bigger job in terms of the scale & complexity of the project: bulging brown brick decorative masonry had to be removed and replaced, the stucco refinished, roof replacement, new windows, new gutters etc - it's a long list.I have a background in procurement/contracting. I interviewed multiple contractors, got bids, and checked references. Nelson was the clear stand out in terms of quality/experience and very competitive with others on price. The Nelson proposal was also the most detailed proposal that I received, so I had a good confidence that they had a clear sense of the project and there wouldn't be a ton of surprise costs or claims that something wasn't included in the quote. Another factor for me: I suspect at least one competitor felt a little uncomfortable dealing with me (I'm a single, half Indian female professional from the East Coast). By comparison, Don & team at Nelson has been great to work with. There are a LOT of moving parts on a renovation this big, including terminology I'd never heard of. Nelson folks walked me through all the different elements, including showing me specific mock ups of really complicated components, talking through pros and cons. I never felt like they tried to upsell me. When I chose a few add ons & upgrades, they were clear that those things were not 100% necessary for function etc. I wanted low maintenance and didn't like the brick, so Nelson suggested the engineered stone which is better in MN weather. I also opted for the special trim that doesn't need to be repainted regularly.Doing a big reno during the pandemic and in my somewhat 'transitional' neighborhood involved a lot of headaches and Nelson was proactive as possible in figuring out how to make things work. We switched window vendors due to supply issues. Construction and scaffolding started on schedule and the site was always kept tidy. On a house this old (1920 build) there's always a risk of hidden issues, and we did encounter unforeseen delays due (1) to the need to get a structural engineer to look at foundation of my house (the old brick hid an issue with the porch see red circle) and Saint Paul government to approve and (2) supply chain delays on a few items like the big front window. Nelson was savvy about dealing with the Saint Paul regulations and kept me in the loop about supply chain issues and schedule. They were always responsive to my questions, comments, and requests. When they ran into a staffing shortage, Don (who normally manages all the teams) did a bunch of work himself so I wouldn't be stuck with punchlist items over the winter. We came in pretty close to budget, the only deviations being some hidden carpentry problems discovered once initial work began; pricing for all that was very clear and within the amount I'd budgeted for hidden issues. Turns out there was a hidden rotten chunk of wall draining heat out of the house that the previous owners covered up. Despite the steep increase in energy costs this winter, my bills are actually about the same because I'm not losing heat the way I was. The house is SO much less drafty & better temperature regulated! I'm also hoping my summer energy bills are much lower now that I can actually open all the windows!I've gone through winter 2021-2022 now and the house is still looking great! Highly recommend and would hire again!

Stucco repair of existing and installation of new stucco. Blended to finish on a historic circa 1900 building.Long story short. I’m doing a 100% rehab of a two story historic mixed use building using many sub contractors. Jeff and his crew were my best subcontractors on this project, maybe of all my projects to date. They were detailed and did everything they said they would do and more. I cannot thank them enough for delivering the way they did.

I had a great experience and would definitely recommend this company. Don Josephson was very helpful in talking with me about the work and coordinating timing of the stucco repair with the contractor replacing a window with a smaller one. The match of color and texture was great to my old home. Thanks Tim for your advice. I will be using this company for future work. Thanks to all involved. And again thanks to Don for his responsiveness during needed modifications.
