What a brilliant experience, I would highly recommend this course to anyone considering stand up. Jill took me from someone who worried about going on stage in class, to looking forward to standing up in a packed venue and telling my jokes. The course is all about preparation, writing, finding your voice, performance and rehearsing, all guided by Jill. Plus everyone else on the course was great fun to be around in class and outside of class going to gigs. You get out of it what you put into it. If you do the work the new act night at the end will be something you'll never forget.

Jill's weekend course is a great intro into the world of comedy for a total novice performer like me. Some simple, straight forward ways in to start crafting some comedy. Doing a little set was a great way to finish off.

I admire good stand-up comics so much, and have been a huge comedy fan forever. Public speaking has not historically been my strong-suit - but I was curious to get an understanding the mechanics of the craft and to see if I could be any good if I worked hard enough.Jill Edwards' 10 Week Beginners course is incremental exposure, each weekend, to a new element of approaching comedy, writing jokes, and your first set. The process has taken me from feeling sick with nerves on workshop 1, to buzzing after delivering my first 3 minute set to a packed out Komedia at our New Act Night last night! It was so much fun!I've also met some amazing mates who I can't wait to keep working alongside in the advanced course. Trust Jill's process and knowledge!

Best course I've ever done by far. If you want to learn how to write comedy or then go on to perform it at the same time as meeting your fellow students who are a diverse and hilarious bunch, then this is the course for you.Jill takes you through the process and helps you work at your own pace and find your funny. At times you'll write stuff which you think is funny...it isn't and things that you think aren't funny.....they are!I'd read about this course several times and wish I'd done it earlier its not just for the young at 56 this has helped me find my funny, go on do it.

I really enjoyed the weekend comedy course in Brighton. Jill knows stand-up comedy inside out and is a fantastic teacher - she knows what works and what doesn't and is just the right amount of honest and encouraging with her feedback. If you're thinking of booking go for it!

I took the 8 week online international course and it was such a great experience. Jill taught us so much about the writing process and provided insightful, constructive feedback throughout. I acquired new skills and built confidence in my performing and writing abilities. I'm looking forward to working with Jill again!

I've loved the whole process of the course, from the writing to performance. I had always wanted to try stand-up but had never quite worked up the nerve and now I'm glad I didn't. Jill's course provided the structure and support to make sure that I didn't fall into any of the classic pitfalls, taking years of experience and condensing them into a 10-week course. I'd recommend this to anyone that would like to give standup a go. The more you put in to it, the more you get out of it!

Easy five stars. I loved every session of Jill’s comedy course. Jill is knowledgeable, warm, and encouraging, but also not afraid to deliver honest feedback, which makes her the perfect teacher. I learnt so much from joke writing techniques and learning about the structure of a joke, right through to exploring my own comedic “style” and building a mini set to perform to the group. I’d recommend this course to anyone with an interest in comedy - even if you don’t end up doing the circuits, you’ll leave the course with more confidence and having had a great time. Thanks so much Jill!

Jill’s 10 week beginners course has been such an incredible experience, through and through. Jill’s teaching is amazing - she has taught me the mechanics of joke writing, and has helped me to progress so that I can find my comedic voice. I can’t wait to continue working with Jill. Not only this but with Jill’s help I have met a community of inspiring people in comedy. As with all of her students, I wholly agree that she has inspired and helped me throughout this course. I attended Jill’s weekend comedy course in Bath and it was fantastic. We did some great exercises to teach us how to write and structure jokes and developed a short set which we performed on stage at the end of the course. We learnt how to use a microphone correctly and how to deliver jokes on stage and keep the audience’s attention.Jill gave us concise and excellent feedback which allowed me to quickly understand and build my knowledge about the art of comedy.I will certainly look to do one of the more in-depth courses that Jill offers as soon as possible with a view to improve further and make people laugh.If it’s something you are thinking about doing, take the plunge and enjoy yourself.
