My wife & I attended, 2014. Enriching, educational, and one gets the sense that this is a new, but sacred collection. Friendly folks, managing, visiting, contributing. Chatted for some time, with one of the artists, whose work is displayed there. More education, and learning of the high level of sophistication present among this proud group of people. How, or why our CANADIAN government had such despicable views of the hosts, whose ancestors welcomed settlers, having made negotiated arrangements for future security of provisions, having witnessed the wanton disrespect of too many settlers. Yet the settlers, despite having signed on to these negotiations, made a lie of the act. They considered it to be largely for placating their hosts, so that their guard soul be let down, opening the door for the genocidal policies of the day. Ashamed for our ancestors' conduct and behaviour - so deeply entrenched, that hardly anyone even thought to bother making treaties with our coastal hosts! The true colours of the settlers, had been already revealed, so they no longer saw a benefit, value or purpose for doing all that negotiating. Simply run roughshod over these peoples' lives, culture, languages, etc., making it illegal for them to continue their traditions. The residential school system would guarantee"

It was open and spread out, the pieces were beautiful but the signage was poor. Still very worthwhile seeing

I love the totem poles, and all the story they tell us. It's a lot to learn about the culture from the First Nation, and their special connection and respect for mother nature. It is absolutely impressive, a very special experience, it's touch your soul. THANK YOU for that! Will definitely come back.

This museum has an impressive collection of Potlash masks. It is really worth seing! However note that the museum is closed until further notice due to changes among the volunteers that manage the museum. In May 2018 I was told that it would reopen in June 2018 but there was not sure. There are other artifact publicly visible outside the museum (several totems and a boat). Also note that there are no public transportations from the ferry terminal to the centre. It is possible to walk there (about 4 kilometer along a forest road).
