I have been going to the Cobalt Mining Museum now for about 35 years. It has always been a must stop on my many trips to Cobalt, and the museum and staff have been a great source of information in my ongoing quest to know about the stories and history of Cobalt. During Covid, the staff and volunteers gave the museum a major update, and I was VERY impressed with the changes. Excellent story telling, and a more diverse story, including some of the warts and dark stories of the past. The museum is definitely worth the visit. If you visited the museum pre-Covid, and are in the area, go back! The museum is DEFINITELY worth a return visit. And stay tuned ... the staff and volunteers have plans to continue improving some of the displays. The underground tour at the Colonial Mine is also excellent and worth the time. As they same ... come for a day, discover a century. A visit to Cobalt, including the Mining Museum, Colonial Tour, and the Heritage Silver Trail are all time well spent.

This place literally is a hidden gem. It is well worth a 6 hour drive from Toronto and I try to visit it every year. There are very interesting and informative exhibits related to mining as well as general history of Cobalt and are, and an extensive library of mining literature. I believe their collection is extremely valuable and is worth seeing. In addition to exhibits, visitors can go on a real mine adit tour with a knowledgeable tour guide. This is an unforgettable experience.

If you're looking for a cool thing to do with your family, consider the Colbalt Museum and mines. It's an educational tour, that takes you back in time.Entering the mine is such a treat, and may not be an option in years to come; as many of the mines are closed to the public. The tour in the mine is only takes about 15 minutes, however, the guide is highly informative. You'll be amazed at the amount of work miners did with their bare hands, and astonished at their working conditions. When we visited, our family received a private tour, as we were the only guests. This allowed us to ask many questions. After your tour with the guide, take a drive and check out the other mine sites. You can visit a mine that is so cold that it perpetually pumps out a fine mist on a hot summer's day and another that has crumbled to ruins.Look for the metal dragon and sculptures in the rocks. Visit the museum where you will find old relics and a room with glowing rocks. The museum sells souvenirs, and the little town offers a small downtown shopping district.

What a great experience! The museum has a lot of interesting and informative displays and the glowing rocks were super cool too. It is a smaller museum. The mine tour was outstanding. The guides were knowledgeable, kind and knew the answers to all questions. It was awesome to go inside and also go explore the grounds outside of the mine. The value was incredible too; $10 per person (2 adults and 2 teens). I believe there are 2 tours per day and they are only offered in the summer. Even my oldest child who thinks museums are boring really enjoyed it. Well worth the visit!

Very friendly staff and very informative museum. Took the mine tour with Halie and Teagan and learned more about mining in 45 minutes than I have in any other mine tour. Would highly recommend the tour and the museum stop.

Wonderful upgrades since our last visit. Much more storytelling about the life behind the mining boom.
