I asked if the daily soup was gluten-free. It wasn't. A man working in the kitchen came out and said they would make me a gluten-free soup. Wow. Meanwhile I was enjoying a great cup of dark roast, freshly ground. The homemade pies and cinnamon buns look fantastic! This is part of the museum.

Their open times aren't the best, but I think this is more a museum attraction than anything else. They have their regulars, clean building, lots to see, wonderful staff. Great place to have a coffee if they are open.

Coffee was good. The had no problem custom making my sandwich. The waitresses not up to par. Overheard her calling a guys daughter little man lol.and then asked the children if they wanted ice cream instead of the parent which made him look like the bad guy for saying no

I heard there was a new chef who did Filipino food here in the last month or two and so I stopped in for lunch. We ordered a pork knuckle dish that was out of this world delicious, crispy and rich with a perfect vinegar dipping sauce, and a pork belly dish that was also delicious and crispy and rich and like nothing I had ever tasted. On top of that we had a chocolate dinosaur" which was a fancy chocolate milkshake type drink that was the perfect not-too-sweet despite having like five kinds of chocolate in it

The pie? So good. The coffee? So good. The Sammiches? So good. The wraps? So good. The workers? Real cute. Service? Appropriate.

Menu doesn't show price for coffee but ordered one thinking it would be reasonable. Turns out a cup of coffee from a pot with gas station quality is more then $3. They need to price the coffee more realistically.

The manager is rather rude and hurries everyone to eat faster. The staff is great though. I make a better pickle soup and crackers at home than this place does. I'll never go back , nor will the group I was with.

Imagine if you will, walking into a piece of history and sitting down to have a meal. For many people this experience has happened around the world, but I'm not traveling at the moment, I'm at home in Vanderhoof BC. And the little piece of history is the OK Cafe. If you haven't heard of it you need to get yourself acquainted. No seriously. I walked in and was immediately hit by the rich smell of their home roasted coffee and fresh pies. It was a decadent experience. My meal for this morning was simple, breakfast. I ordered the eggs, scrambled, with sausage and bacon as sides, and of course toast. I also ordered their dark roast coffee so I could give an honest opinion of that as I'm a bit of a coffee snob. The coffee was served first as per usual, it had an amazing aroma, I take cream and very little sugar and it was a good call for this cup of Java. The flavour is well built with a proper roast. Very fresh, a hint of earthiness and an almost dark chocolate note. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone over the commercial places such as Tim Hortons or Starbucks. As for the food itself. The eggs were done right, a little sad that they don't appear to be farm fresh, but I digress. The bacon and sausage is standard fare, and the toast was actually very good. Very hearty. I also got a side of hash browns, which are actually home fries here. They taste like they were fried in bacon grease, I may be wrong, but they were good. Overall, I'd say the coffee was phenomenal, the service by the server Dylan was incredible, and the food was, well, OK! Pun intended. I suggest you give it a try. I'll be coming back for a sampling of their other menu options at a later date for sure.
