Dog's Den Training School

As a first time dog owner I wanted to do some training with my puppy. I had several people recommend the Dogs Den so we signed up for a puppy manners class. We have since done other classes as well and will continue to take more. Barbara's knowledge and obvious love of dogs shows in all that she does. She not only provides great training but also takes the time to explain about dog's behavior and answered so many of my questions! She connects with you as well as the dog. I also was very appreciative of how she encouraged my son to be involved with the training. Thank you for everything! I would highly recommend the Dog's Den.

Love the The Dog’s Den! They have the best instruction, Barbara Lloyd and Becca Hoffman are a bank of dog knowledge. The class materials covered are up to date and fully relevant, they are taught from a good, solid understanding of science and dog behavior. I couldn't have been more pleased with the courses I have taken! I am continually amazed at how much better behaved my dogs are after every class. I have to say that the method used by The Dog’s Den is very effective and me and my two dogs wouldn’t go anywhere else.

We have just completed the Movement Puzzles class. It is amazing to watch and learn how your dog has to think and comprehend to accomplish the end goal of the puzzle, with very, very little interaction, (basically saying yes and giving them a reward when the task is complete.) We started with easy puzzles, then built our way up to more complicated puzzles. This class is something that everyone can do at home with their dog after the class is ended. It helps builds the dog's confidence. After a class like this your dog will be plum tired! I would highly recommend this class.

Dog's Den uses positive reinforcement, reward based training to get the best results when training handlers and their dogs. Barb Lloyd is a terrific instructor and a highly knowledgeable and skilled dog behaviourist. From puppies to adult to senior dogs, she has the ability to hone in on the issue and help the handler to address any training challenge. Dog's Den offers a wide variety of classes for puppies and adult dogs in obedience, manners and puppy agility. Barb has been training and teaching for many years and participates in several dog sports herself. I highly recommend anyone with a dog, whether a puppy, adult or senior, take a class at Dog's Den. She has something to offer every dog/Handler from new to the family or has been in the family for years.

This review is long overdue! Barbara Lloyd and the Dog’s Den team are incredible. 3.5 years ago my spouse and I became first-time dog owners and I honestly didn’t know where to start. Having heard some horror stories that occurred at other obedience classes offered in the city, I was in search of a positive and safe environment for our rambunctious golden retriever to learn, thrive and have fun in. Cue Barbara who has over 20 years of experience in dog training and canine behaviour rooted in ethical and humane training methods that focus on building a trust relationship with your dog. After 3.5 years the Dog’s Den team is family and our dog is a titled trick dog champion. We could not have thought in a million years we would come this far. If you are new to dog training or are struggling with canine behavioural issues and need an encouraging, patient and supportive team to assist you don’t hesitate to contact Dog’s Den. Raising our dog from puppy hood and on into his adult life was so much easier working with Barbara Lloyd and Dog's Den. Our dog learned to be a calm obedient guy and we learned so much about being effective and confident owners through the ongoing advice and counsel provided. A new puppy is on the way into our life. Can't wait to begin working with Barbara once again!

We only got to go 2x because of covid happening but I think the class would of have been great and my dog love going and playing with the other dogs would be back when they open

Barb Lloyd is a world leader in Innovative dog training. She's kind, knowledgeable and just the bomb. Cannot recommend her highly enough.

Barbara is an outstanding dog trainer who uses only positive behavioural training methods. We have taken 8 dogs to her classes, over a 20 year period, and are always impressed. She constantly takes professional development classes from leading animal behaviourists, and brings that knowledge back to Regina. Our first experience with Barbara was with a set of private classes to help us to handle our (now long gone, alas) reactive border collie. She was a great dog, but struggled on walks and we needed help! With Barbara's assistance, we were able to resolve her issues and had years of wonderful, calm, and relaxing walks with our dogs. We have also had severely abused dogs in our home who needed special attention so they could function in the world. All of those dogs progressed from not being happy leaving the house to attending classes with other dogs and people around and being quite happy with it. With Barbara, you have to trust the process, and if you do you will see results. None of our current dogs really needs classes right now, but we still regularly take them (with a current hiatus due to Covid-19) because they all love going to classes at the Dog's Den, and we do actually learn new things all the time. One of my favourite successes at the Dog's Den is taking our blind and deaf dog to agility class: by the end of the course, our dog was hopping over jumps, clambering under things, weaving, and going through tunnels. Yes, she was doing it slowly, but she was doing it!
