Ciel Ouvert Daycare

This place has a horrible, unprofessional, manager Amanda. My children will never set foot in this establishment as long as she is still employed. This is no way to run a place where vulnerable babies and toddlers are supposed to be given the best protection, care and education.

I just love this place for the reason my son is very happy to go there. They learn so much, they send us his pictures and applications that they are doing together. There is also a daily journal where you can see how was the day for your kid and once a week they write a feedback about what my son likes and what he does good. I am very thankful to everyone there for a good care!

I highly recommend this daycare. Staff are friendly and attentive. Activities are both fun and educational, and above all, director is very involved and approachable. FIVE STARS !!!!

I have to agree with many of the recent 1 star reviews. I am glad I am not the only one.We have noticed a complete downhill decline in everything since Amanda took over. She yells at other teachers, we have noticed some of them in tears. Why would someone do that in front of others especially kids. It's crazy.We have noticed past great teachers being replaced by new ones and those being replaced as well. It is either Amanda is firing them or they are deliberately leaving because of her.We have accidentally met one of the past teachers while grocery shopping and have been informed that she had to leave due to a change in management.What bothers me as well is that Amanda comes dressed to impress. Impress who? The other teachers know that they are dealing with kids, so they dress comfortably. There is no point coming dressed like you are the CEO of a huge tech company. She seems to have to show a lot of power and require a lot of attention. This isn't a suitable position for her.The management and teachers were great before her. We put our child in this daycare because we heard from parents who had their children go there many years ago. I believe Amanda just ruined a good reputation that seemed to have held for many years.

My 2 boy loved it here. All the staff is amazing, the food they give them, the activities. Love it!

Two of my kids has graduated from ciel ouvert, the other I pulled out to bring them to another daycare. We had experienced this daycare with a few directors. I have to say the worst was Amanda & Lizon.They are very unprofessional. Upon reading the reviews I’m happy that other parents have spoken up. These two ladies who have taken over have bullied the staff & have also shown favouritism to the children. The staff have been working there for many years, very hard to find that at a daycare! The lack of professionalism shows how young & inexperienced these two are.Lizon at least tries to show that she can try to be nice in front of your face but she’s very rude! Amanda just shows up for a pay check. Directors are supposed to assist the staff & encourage them. I have not seen that in these two. They hide in the office & leave early for the day. And Lizons language…wow!! I happened to overhear a bit of a conversation with her & find it very unprofessional!I heard that there’s new administration. I just hope for the staff & children’s sake that these two don’t step foot again in any daycare!

My children don’t attend anymore since they are now in school. However since my wife asked me to speak up I with recent events coming to light. It’s a great little place but one problem ruined it all. The neurotic director Amanda who comes and goes as she pleases. I’ve heard of issues my kids have had and when I’ve tried to approach her the staff told me she left because of a headache earlier in the day. This has happened many times. She would fly out of the parking lot at 90km (I’ve witnessed it) she’s never in attendance. I don’t think she means harm but she clearly has mental and emotional issues, and from I’ve been told from employees they are afraid to talk to her because she blows up extremely quickly. Blaming personal issues and whatnot but from what I’ve witnessed this woman has issues that needs resolving before she ever goes near children.

My children started at the daycare in September and back then Amanda was the director. We had a few difficult interactions and I would have taken my children to another place if not for the amazing staff and the convenience of the location for our family. Definitely would have put a 1-2 stars max review with her there, even though I don’t think she was ill intentioned, she just wasn’t fit for that job, especially being near children.Happy to report there is now a new director in place and everything has been great since then, the staff is truly caring and my children are enjoying their days there.

I’d like to give more stars but I can’t. I know there are many bad reviews and I agree with them about the former director Amanda, but she’s not there anymore and she’s definitely not a representation of this amazing daycare. Our kids came from a CPE where my girl was beaten by a teacher, we arrived very stressed and worried after living such a situation, and they’ve been extremely welcoming. By the time the director was Lison, she’s a great person. When she left for maternity another woman came and it was nightmare but the whole personal took good care of the kids and the situation and she is no longer there for many months now. Otherwise the teachers are the best. Now, almost 3 years after arriving here, we feel happy, confident and safe having our boy there (our girl is already in school). We fully recommend this daycare.

I'd like to give this daycare the credit that they deserve. Our son has been attending for 1 year. He started in the baby class and has moved up three times. I'd like to put a few things in perspective for any new parents reading these reviews, as I was you a year ago reading and stressing if I made the right choice with this daycare.For the most part, the educators have been there for quite awhile. But like in most industries these days, there is quite a bit of turnover. I don't know if this was because of the recent Director Amanda as per other comments on the thread (I personally never had any issues with her) or for other reasons, but i feel this is to be expected. I can say that the educators that have been hired all seem wonderful and I have yet to have a problem with any of them. My son loves all of them and I can genuinely see their affection for him too. It's to be expected that the teacher you see in the morning might not be the same one at night due to scheduling. They seem to all share in the duties and help out in the classes, even with having a set educator. This might be an issue for some parents, but I actually like this since it ensures that my son doesn't get too attached to any one educator, and easily switches classes and learns different styles. Of course he has his teacher, but you can see that all the educators know all the kids. They seem like a big family.The daycare itself is clean and I feel 100% comfortable with the food they are serving. The chef Anna is amazing. I've spoken to parents at other daycares and it seems that our lovely Anna goes above and beyond to make sure the kids have vegetables and fresh food. She even makes home made pizza dough. I can see her cooking when I walk up to drop off my son and she is a machine.Having a nice outdoor area to play is key. When my son was small they would take them for walks in the strollers. Im not sure if they still do this, but I definitely feel that they try very hard to be outside as much as possible.I haven't had to deal with new coordinator Vanessa too much, but she seems very nice.There will always be negative things to say. But honestly, koodos to these women trying to run this place every day and making it a nice environment for our kids. It's definitely no easy task, and I truly appreciate all of their hard work. The daycare is not there to raise your kids...thats our job. But they are there to help them grow and ensure they are safe and well fed. My son has learned so much from them in the past year.Side note: this daycare is open most of the time and only closes for statutory holidays. I have friends in other daycares that close constantly for vacations, construction holidays, 2 weeks at Christmas etc....so this is a big plus!All in all I am very happy Ciel Ouvert :)
