What a great experience this was to see and walk thru with a guided tour.Very well planned and organized, with lots of hands-on experiences, keeping your attention without being boring or saturating in detail.Definitely well worth the cost of entry.

Very informative and gorgeous views of the water from the village. The recreated village was well done with period costumed staff. Dog friendly even in the buildings. I'm so glad we detoured to visit.

Breathtaking views from the site itself. Well marked out, easy path to follow ‘through time’. The 1st 3 buildings were fantastic, really pulled us into the narrative and played the part of setting sail. Sadly that’s where the interactive parts ended. Shame, as i would have really liked more information. The lady at the general store gave us some good information, as did the carding mill and the shingle making building, but no one was in the ‘period’ like the 1st 3. Still, amazing place. Loved getting to cuddle the cat in the reception area, so snuggly!! Had to return her though as she tried to follow us outside! Highly recommend getting there at opening, it was so quiet.

Highland village is nicely laid out following the timeline from before the Scots migrated through to early 1900’s. Some interpreters told interesting stories.., we wish there were more. Worth a visit.

Visited this center as part of a cruise ship tour. Very beautiful and picturesque location overlooking the bras d'ore. Easy to imagine you are in the Highlands of Scotland. Would be even better to visit in a smaller group to be able to enjoy listening to the guides in the exhibits, some speaking Gaelic and dressed in period costumes.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at this place. The workers were friendly and knowledge. They were dressed for the time period, and answered questions the same way. It was dog friendly, which is a huge plus for me.

I'm a little surprised at how much I enjoyed this museum and the walking tour. The staff and character actors who represent each building/era etc are all very friendly, fun and knowledgeable and most speak fluent Gaelic which is quite cool. The museum itself is set upon a hill overlooking the ocean so the walk between exhibits has an amazing view. It's a beautiful well kept informative tour and they seem to constantly be improving and expanding. It was the first summer coming out of the pandemic so there were a few spots that didn't have an actor (no blacksmith this day) but all in all I really enjoyed it. Recommend it to anyone looking for a casual tour through a time in Nova Scotia's history.

What a fantastic, educational site regarding Gaelic culture and heritage. Great interpreters dressed in period clothing.
