My wife and I live in the Copernicus Lodge, an independent living building, for one year enjoying proximity of High Park, boardwalk at the Ontario Lake, restaurants, many food stores, hospital, drug stores, financial institutions, etc.The staff and management are helpful and courteous, they do their best to make our lives as comfortable as possible. The great majority of tenants are sympathetic nice people, enjoying living here like us.We strongly disagree with the people who wrote the reviews with 1*. Some of the reviews come from habitual complainers whom nobody can please. Sorry...

Jay Scull was the ED at Westpark and then went on to Copernicus lodge this man was one of the worst I've see he was so rude and disrespectful to staff while masking it with a fake smile please tell me he doesn't still work with vulnerable people in LTC. He shouldnt be allowed to.

My grandmother lives on 5s. I witnessed that the new activation lady raised her voice at the resident for speaking Polish instead of English.I called and informed the Ministry about this situation. It is unacceptable, unprofessional and says a lot about this place and its practices. Secondly, I also noticed a lack of activities for seniors. Activation aids are paid for turning the tv on or forcing residents to speak English. They don't do anything more. Most of residents don't need 1:1 conversations about the weather, but they need various activities to support their fine motor skills and keep them busy. Unacceptable is the fact that unqualified activation staff collect all residents in the dining room, turn the tv on and leave them alone for hours.Management offices are always closed if you want to share your concerns with them. They hire more agency staff than they have their own employees. It is not a Polish home anymore, so Polish people should stop giving donations and support them. More than 60% of their staff is a poorly trained agency or people taken just from the street. They don't even pretend that they care.Their best nurses, polish activation staff, psws left this place for another jobs.Sadly, Copernicus has never recovered after the covid outbreak. This place is a mess, you can smell urine all over, and they hire staff without qualifications and good attitude. I suggest the management to work from time to time on the floor as psws or activation and see how interesting" people they hired."

I moved my Mother to Copernicus Lodge as she could no longer manage in a three level home. There is no question her quality of life improved as she made friends; attended concerts; went on outings and had a hair salon on the premises. My Mother passed six weeks before her 102nd birthday in 2015. I will forever be grateful to all the staff for their kindness.

Traumatized my husband while under his care and in turn traumatized me. Wouldn't consider the medication suggested by myself as it was from an internet doctor"

Copernicus Lodge should ban the Polish priests who administer to the Elderly and Staff. They openly discourage anyone who is thinking of getting vaccinated in opposition to the Pope and the Archdiocese . The Staff who are picketing outside are spouting their rights, what about the rights of the people they are paid to look after

Copernicus Lodge-both the independent living and LTC- have been an amazing home for my mother. She lived there for more than 15 years. I saw her thrive in this wonderful community and when she needed support, the care and compassion (from nurses, physiotherapists, PSWs, etc) were always there. While in LTC, the nurses, PSWs, dieticians, priests and nuns, administrators and doctors have provided excellent physical, emotional and spiritual support. Except for the Covid lockdown, when a weekly FaceTime or summer outdoor visit was my only opportunity to see mama, I can attest that this retirement home is amazing as I visited regularly. Bless the staff for all their efforts each and every day and all the residents that put their trust in them. I will always be grateful to Copernicus Lodge.

No respect for their hard working PSW's... management and HR turn their backs on their workers, they only care about the $$$
