Dr. Anas Makhzoum

I’ve been hesitant to post a review for a very long time but I don’t want to keep quiet any longer. I was referred to Dr. Makhzoum by a walk-in clinic doctor mid covid in 2020 as my family doctor wasn’t taking patients unless it was an emergency, hence why I used the walk in…Long story short, Dr. Makhzoum diagnosed me with Ankylosing Spondylitis and prescribed me numerous different medications (prednisone, humira, cortisone shot…) the list goes on. I did not see any improvements with any of these medications, and every time I would express this, he would just prescribe me more medications or recommend I go to physio. I would get blood work done every 3 months before seeing him and each time my WBC would be sky rocketed and other concerning levels would come back as well. I felt very rushed every appointment I had, I couldn’t be in his offer no more than 20 minutes.I eventually asked my family doctor for a new referral to a different rheumatologist. Turns out, Dr. Makhzoum wrongly diagnosed me. After new MRI’s, bloodwork, CT scans with my new rheumatologist — It is proven that I was wrongly diagnosed and was being prescribed medications I NEVER had to be on. This has delayed me receiving the appropriate medications and help for the past 2 years. I would not recommend this doctor unless you want to feel rushed, embarrassed and that your concerns and questions are not welcomed.

Not thorough, focuses on my most painful least scary symptom, condescending.I told his nurse(who did his whole oral consult for him) that my pain was a 5-10 at times averaging a 7, that it has brought me to the hospital for pain management several times, his response you can take nsaids for the pain". Thanks... I would have never thought to take something over the counter for pain for the last 4 years that this has been going on all on my own.Either he doesn't care about a women's pain or he didn't know how severe it was

I am beyond grateful to Dr. Makhzoum. I suffered for over 2.5 years with reoccurrent joint pain, swelling and a general feeling of being unwell. I visited multiple Dr's and specialists and had a host of different tests before finally being diagnosed by Dr. Makhzoum. He took the time to explain everything to me and provided me with treatment options. Within three months of beginning treatment, I felt like I had my life back. The staff at his clinic are very pleasant and overall I have had a very positive experience.

Dr.Anas helped me improve my movement and quality of life.He’s calm, patient and understanding. I highly recommend him.

Just an amazing place. Friendly front office staff always helpful and looking out for the best of the patient. Calm and educated physician that always looking to help and come up with ideas how to heal. Very responsive!!

Dr. Makhzoum has helped me tremendously. He is my third rheumatologist, and quite honestly the only one who has listened and helped me get to the bottom of my health issues. He is direct, supportive, thorough, and very knowledgeable. As a bonus, his receptionist and nurse are lovely as well.Thank you, Dr. Makhzoum. My quality of life has improved because of you.

Very pleasant reception. Dr Makhzoum listened gave me time, follow up has been faster, imaging requisitions and tests were prompt. I am very thankful for a second opinion as without his attention I would be down the wrong path for recovery and healing.

What an amazing doctor. He was right on it and, as far as I am concerned he saved my life. His front desk staff are friendly, informative and kind. She always returns my calls, forwards my messages to the doctor. I feel so safe knowing I am being cared for by Dr. Makhzoum and his staff. Thank you so, so much.

Caring and listening doctor, does take the time to help you and looking for any possible ways to alleviate and help with my spondyloarthropathy condition.

I recently had an appointment with this rheumatologist who left me feeling very frustrated and disappointed. As a newly diagnosed patient, I had a lot of worries and questions about my condition and treatment plan. Unfortunately, the doctor did not seem interested in taking the time to explain things to me or answer my questions.During the appointment, the doctor walked away while I was still talking to him and asked me to read about the medicine on my own. This was incredibly unprofessional and left me feeling confused and lost. As a patient, I expect my doctor to be attentive, compassionate, and willing to help me understand my health issues.I understand that doctors can be busy and have a lot of patients to see, but I don't think that's an excuse for poor communication or lack of empathy. If a doctor can't take the time to listen to their patients and provide the support they need, then what's the point of seeing them in the first place?Overall, I would not recommend this rheumatologist to anyone. If you are looking for a doctor who is willing to take the time to explain things to you and answer your questions, then I suggest you look elsewhere. It's important to have a good relationship with your doctor, and unfortunately, this doctor did not provide that for me.
