Kawartha Heights Retirement Living

My Mom has been here almost since it opened. She lived at a couple of other retirement homes and decided to try Kawartha Heights when it opened. She has a fabulous one-bedroom suite. The nice thing about a new-build is that everything is beautiful and new and the room sizes are fabulous! Beautiful bathrooms with walk-in showers, high ceilings, individual climate control, tiny, efficient kitchenettes............I really can't say enough great things about this place. The dining room, outdoor patio and common areas are very large, luxuruous spaces and the lobby has a welcoming fireplace - much like a luxury hotel. She loves the food and, the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. I'm very happy and so very relieved that my Mom is being taken care of at Kawartha Heights Retirement Living! Take a tour! You'll be very impressed.

I have now had the pleasure of working several times with the team from Kawartha Heights Retirement Home helping clients to move in. I have been extremely impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff as well as the cleanliness of the building. I have lived at Kawartha Heights RL since it opened. I'm so happy I made the decision to move here. I have a spacious one bedroom suite with a lovely balcony. The staff is so friendly and caring and it's a comfort to know there is a Wellness Staff on duty 24 hours a day. It's also nice to have my meals prepared and not worry about shopping for groceries, cooking, etc. My family are happy to know that I'm in a safe place and being well cared for. We have some other perks like free long distance calls, cable tv and wi-fi hookup. I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of making the transition of living alone to a retirement residence.

I am so delighted that my mom and I choose Kawartha Heights. From our first interaction, the staff have been caring and supportive and helpful. My mom ended up moving in much earlier than originally anticipated, in an emergency situation. The staff bent over backwards to accommodate her and make her feel welcome and valued. They have maintained a high level of communication. My family and I feel confident in the care and home that my mom has decided upon.

It was hard to realize that i could no longer live on my own. But l am so glad I made the decision to move to Kawartha Heights Retirement Living. Here, I have wonderful meals prepared for me, an unending opportunity to join in activities and make friends, and the welcome safeguard of caring medical support. But most of all, I value the unwritten acceptance of my apartment being a place where I can always go to be safe, alone, and at home" again

I was really excited about working here in the beginning bringing 35 years of nursing experience with me. I really thought l could make a difference and improve employee issues. Unfortunately the owner did not believe the many complaints about a lying, bulling, deceitful and manipulate PSW employee. So many good honest employees left within a week of being hired. I hear that they have finally been fired. I hope so for the good of this company. I only wish the best for this place as it is beautiful with wonderful residents. Just poor management unfortunately. Staff in all departments don't feel they are listening. Hope this changes now as there is some very dedicated employees working there.

My Mother in law (Mary) lived at Kawartha Heights Retirement for 4 years. She had a one bedroom suite with a den that had a beautiful view of the city. She made many friends and enjoyed their daily chats. Thank you to all the staff for always being kind and helpful. A special thank you to Rosemary and Teressa for their support. When I went to visit Mary I was always welcomed by the staff, some staff even knew me by name. I was very impressed by the effort made to make the dining room look very festive on special occasions. Mary viewed many retirement homes before choosing Kawartha Heights Retirement and decided this was the best home for her.

My mother-in-law has been at Kawartha Heights for a year now. She tells me it has a warm and homey family feeling. She likes the activities that are offered and the interesting people she has met. Life there has been very good. The staff is very caring. Marg Garwood gives it a four out of five stars.

Two years ago, just before the arrival of the pandemic, my father could no longer live on his own and at age 90 went to live at Kawartha Heights. This was an emotional family decision but the staff at KHRL went above and beyond to help Dad settle in and within a few days, he had made new friends and decided this wasn't such a bad thing after all. We were very impressed with the facility - it's cleanliness, modern amenities, spacious dining room and lounge, games room and exercise room. Then the pandemic hit and no one could visit for months. During this time the management and staff kept all of the residents safe and as happy as they could be under the circumstances. Happy hour provided a social situation for the residents and helped break up the time the quarantine imposed. My family and I rest much easier knowing that help is close at hand should Dad suffer a fall (he has) or have an immediate need that we can't be there for. They keep us in the loop regarding any concerns pertaining to Dad and we are so happy that he is a resident of Kawartha Heights Retirement Living!
