Bannockburn Trail
I’m surprised of this place didn’t receive much reviews as it deserves. This place is so cuteeeeeee, feel like a forest in a fairy tale. It has a pretty long stream run through the forest. Suitable for beginners and even family with kids.

Not your basic boring trail. Not a lot of flat ground so be prepared for a nice hour long hike.

Coming from Lambton County it was nice to have some hills to climb as its so flat around here.

Great trail, not overly travelled or busy. The large trail is easy to walk for the average person. Some slight inclines and slippery sections. Smaller loop available with boardwalks and all flat terrain for those would rather. Some parts of the trails have signage that point out different trees or parts of the area. There is signage for an old barn and pioneer house but there is not much left of either. The barn has no remains, only a clearing in the trees and a dip in the ground. The house has some rubble from the foundation but it is mostly gone and overgrown with trees and bushes. Great for a small hike if you are not looking for a day trip.

Very nice and kid friendly, just go. First time and it was awesome, beautiful forest and hike up and down trails, wooden planks where it was needed, bridges and many streams, creeks and differents kinds of plants to see. For some reason, mid August and bugs were not a problem at all, short and t-shirt were perfect. Bathrooms and a garbage pail are at the start.

Beautiful hiking area. Well maintained. Many signs along the paths with educational information. Trails could be better marked for routes (we weren't sure where it was ok to leave the boardwalk). One area has the remains of a log cabin and barn. Interesting. We will return when we are in the area again.

Secret gem of a trail. Lots to explore. Terrain is varied and challenging enough to keep you engaged, but our little ones and older ones could still manage. Helpful boardwalks, bridges, stairways. Even our teens had fun exploring on their own. Overall: lovely, quiet, clean / well-maintained. Worth the drive out.

Great place to hike, lots of boardwalk, and some challenging climbs ( stairs). I think the main loops is about 2km. Near the end by the teepee go left, not the trail to the right of it, trees are not marked. Even if you do get lost its a small enough loop that eventually you would reach the main path again. There are a couple creeks and bridges, but safe enough for kids. Pit toilets right at the start by the parking lot. Also Google is a couple hundred meters off on the map, so when it says you've arrived just keep going, we were driving in from Varna. Enjoy.

The trail and forest is amazing. Be prepared to hit a gravel road for at least 3km before reaching the trail head. Parking for up to 6 vehicles I would estimate. There is a garbage can at the entrance of the trail. Board walks, bridges and staircase are well maintained, as well as the trail markers. So a big shout out to the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority for keeping this place spectacular. Please note that It was super icey when we went out (beginning of January). This should not be unexpected, I would like to stress heavily that you bring along on a set of ice grips. Stay safe, and enjoy.
