Had some amazing authentic Mexican food. The chicken tamales are so good! If you have restrictions such as gluten, it’s a great place to eat!

If you're looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant experience along with reasonable prices to go with it-- you're looking at the right place. Packed with people trying to get a table on a Friday night, and for good reason! I love how you can mix and match your choice of protein and spice level on your entrée. All of our food came out quickly, moments after we ordered. The chimichanga was fried perfectly and the chorizo inside a great choice. It came with a side of guacamole and beans; both were great. The real star of the show was the side of chips. They were fried and crispy. Service was alright though, nothing special or crazy. It took half a meal to have enough glasses of water for our entire table, and that was only given when asked. Although everything we ordered tasted great, I feel like it lacked some variety. All around great experience, I'd love to return another time!

Came here for my 30th. The servers were so friendly and attentive. We had a larger party so they sat us in the back area. The apps were great, the drinks, the tequila, entres. 10/10. This is one of my favourite places on James street. I hope they start online booking soon. They do respond to your calls and are fabulous over the phone, but since they are a busy restaurant it’s hard to get ahold of them sometimes.

Mesa is a fantastic restaurant right in hamilton on James st. You know it’s good because of how busy it always is. The food is fresh and tastes good. They have vegetarian options and lots of gluten free options.The nachos are awesome as is the burritos. They have no draft been unfortunately. Dessert is a bit lack lustre as well. Service is fantastic.The reason I can’t give a 5 star review is the fact that as an authentic Mexican restaurant they should be service pork. Carnitas is absolutely missing and it’s disappointing. Regretfully they gave halal options with really is a poor choice for those that don’t eat it. The meat would taste much better if they stayed away from it.Overall Mesa maybe somewhere that I like a lot but may not come back due to the one complaint. This is because I’m forbidden to eat that and kosher. Please provide the option for us individuals that don’t want these options.

We reached an hour before closing, but they were slightly reluctant to give us a table (even though there were other customers still looking to order). The drinks are really good (especially the margarita). They could increase their cocktail options (they only have 3 or 4 basic ones). The food was decent. for a Mexican place, they should improve their flavours. I would go back for the drinks and try other options.

If you are craving Mexican food then this is a place to go.You need to reserve a table on the weekend as they are usually too busy.Food is tasty and service is good. Although, vegetarian options could be enhanced with variety of beyond meats.

One of the top restaurants to visit when in or around hamilton. Authentic Mexican dishes with great taste. Tried Chicken Tamales for the first time and it tasted too delicious. Also, Enchilada and Chalupa are worth trying. Their vegan protein option which includes cactus is also nice. Gringa was only the dish which we don’t like much. And yes if you are ordering Bean Dip, tell them add less cheese, otherwise Bean Dip will have more cheesey flavour than beans. Overall we loved our dine in experience here.
