Went for a day surgery today, first surgery and first general anesthesia in my life, so I was a bit anxious. It went fantastic! From the entry point and to the end. Nurses were friendly, professional and just fun to communicate with. They checked on me quite often before surgery, we went through a lot of checks. sanitation crew were on top of their staff, always checking and always ready.Surgery crew - beyond beyondness. Briefed my throughout the entire process, from anesthesia to where what and how’s. After surgery care was super nice also. Everyone checked on me, gave me cookies and fancy water with ice.Staff is just amazing - friendly, open, empathetic. I went through three persons-in-training. All three were very nice and knowledgeable, and their supervisors always were there, watching, explaining, correcting.Overall, one of the best medical experiences I ever had.

Just spent 2 days for hip replacement surgery. Unit 52 was amazing! I can not say enough good things about them. All of the many staff that took care of me were friendly, professional, and top-notch. I hope this is where part 2 of my surgery is!

Unintentionally spent a few nights here following a medical emergency while boarding an airplane home. The physicians and nurses were all lovely, the care was superb, and it's actually a fairly nice facility. I've read through the negative reviews, and I can honestly say the 1-stars says a lot more about the attitudes of the typical clientele than the care they provide. In my time sitting in the ER, most of the patients were rude, abrasive, demanding, and most of their medical issues were self-inflicted. Honestly I was amazed by the level of patience the staff showed. Yes, my issue was potentially life threatening, but the staff seemed so relieved it was just a straight forward medical issue that I felt bad for them.

The care and compassion I received here at the emergency department was incredible! The wait to see the psychiatric team was long, but they got me a bed so fast when I was in crisis, it was amazing! The nurses were incredibly compassionate and caring, the doctors listened, took their time, and never rushed when it was my turn, even though there mush have been cases that were much more if an emergency" than my case. This is also the hospital that my first son was born at

The emergency room is a joke & the staff are overworked and unsympathetic. I had to go the ER because I had Melena and was passing bloody stools. I waited in the ER for 7 hours and when I finally got a room it was made out of white cardboard boxes that were duct taped together. There is no patient to physician privacy because you can hear everything they are saying on the other side of the box. I was waiting in that room for 4 hours and did not get to see a doctor. I asked the staff if I was bleeding internally & they said word for word “ you look fine” when asked about how many patients were ahead of me I was first told 1 and then they just kept bumping patients in front of me. I left and went to foothills where I saw a doctor quickly and I in fact was bleeding in my GI tract.

I had an emergency appendectomy on June 2, 2023. The ER nurses and doctors were extremely kind and accommodating. The CT scan technician who did my contrast CT at 4 am was very pleasant and efficient at his job. Following, I was in unit 23 room 4-2 and I cannot say enough good things about the nurses there. Kerri was my main nurse and I feel very lucky to have her there. She was warm, empathic, and extremely supportive. Surgery went great and again, the surgical team and attending doctors were outstanding. This kind environment has helped me to get through a very stressful and difficult time. Thank you!

Long but needs to be said. Brought my elderly father in a few years ago. He'd visited a doctor at a walk-in for a sore side. Doctor told him he almost certainly had acute appendicitis and had to get to an ER immediately. I drove him to PL. The emergency room was quite full. My father sat because he was in pain so I stood in line for him. That took almost 45 minutes. My father gave the nurse the Doctor's note regarding appendicitis and she immediately crumpled it up, threw it out and told him they would diagnose him (not some Doctor). OK. Apparently she, a nurse, has the authority and the ability to diagnose from taking his temperature, BP, and pulse. Then we waited, and waited. My father's condition grew worse. After about 4 hours I again stood in line and 30 minutes later asked the nurse for a blanket for my father because he is in pain and starting to shake. Was refused. Someone had left a blood puddle on the floor about 3 hours ago (I think it was a failed pregnancy, poor lady was crying) and nobody cleaned it up. A couple people were laying on the tile floor. I overhear the nurse telling people they are short of beds but she actually explained to another nurse that a major scheduling error meant they didn't have enough nurses. We continued to wait. I went back at about the 6 and the 9 hour marks to ask for a blanket and they finally gave me one.We figure my father's appendix burst at about the 11 hour mark in the waiting area. He was in extreme pain and started going into shock. I got animated enough to get the nurse's attention without getting kicked out and she finally took him in at about the 12 hour mark. He was in emergency surgery within the hour.Apparently he finally saw an actual Doctor that understood. I can't imagine what would have happened to him had I not persisted with the unprofessional triage nurse.Note they still hadn't cleaned up the now mostly dry blood from the floor of the waiting room. If they don't clean an obvious bio hazard what about the not-so-obvious? Makes you wonder. Now instead of being an overnight operation it turned into 8 days in hospital occupying valuable resources. My father saw what a terrible triage system has cost the system, not to mention jeopardize his health. Had the triage nurse not ignored the Doctor's note and not played doctor my father would have been home the next day. This didn't end the odyssey. So many things went wrong during his long term care. We ordered a TV for him 3 times and he never got it. The nurses lost his medication that I had specifically gone to fetch from his house. They forgot to give him medication several times. The province paid for the replacement medication (thanks, everyone) and the day before he was released they found the medication I'd brought. It was in the wrong fridge. They had the wrong name for him for a while and after the surgery they didn't know where he was. They had the wrong Doctor listed for him. They took out his IV without Doctor's approval and had to reinsert it. The Doctor was not impressed with that nurse. The nurses joked around loudly at all hours of the day and night and my father couldn't sleep. I witnessed them having a water" fight (throwing ice chips at each other) at about 9 PM. The food was terrible. This isn't the whole list but you get the picture. Not a pleasant stay. This hospital has major problems with procedures. They have major problems with nursing staff that are inadequately trained

My sister went into the Peter Lougheed Centre on the May 2023 long weekend.Admitted to emergency then to unit 49.The care and kindness she received was remarkable.Thank you to the Doctors and Nurses on Unit 49 especially Nurse Jerissa, your professional care and compassion was very much appreciated.Unit 49 was also very well organized, spacious and private rooms and incredibly clean and quiet. So thank you for making the visit to a normally stressful environment an easy and calming experience.

The short term care unit is very well run and a great place however the ER is another story...ER Rooms are dirty and staff is uncaring. Was blatantly lied to then held against my will was told by staff I'm smart" because I knew to ask for the paper work. Please also note staff waited until after hours to fax the paper and would only give a crayon for me to fill out the legal form. Also haven't showered in 3 days."
