Uma Sushi
Fish was very fresh and the rice was seasoned nicely. I like it also that the pieces are not too huge that it fits in one bite, proportions between the sashimi and rice was perfect also.Place is pretty small and very crowded on meal time, make sure you get early. They have bar seats though so if you’re alone, it’s easier to find a seat

Ordered Deluxe Chirashi today and it came with only 11 pieces of sashimi, while the menu shows 13 pieces. Felt ripped off.

Amazing sushi, at a very reasonable price. Quality definitely seems of a higher standard and quality than that of the tri-cities, the sashimi resembled MiKu dtown, but the price was much better. Sashimi basically melts in your mouth, cliché but true you will understand when you experience it. Friendly and polite staff, mouth watering food, overall amazing experience.

Hidden gem spot for sure! This is the place if you’re looking for something a little more high quality than your usual cheap lunch sushi place. Everything is super fresh. Slightly higher price point, but pretty worth imo. The uni nigiri is bomb

I stopped in on a whim based on great reviews from other users. I was not disappointed. A friend and I grabbed lunch mid afternoon. There were a few other patrons but it was not busy. We were seated promptly and given water/tea. I ordered the donut sushi and takoyaki from the specials/hot menu. Both were excellent. The food was reasonably priced, fresh and tasty. My friend was equally happy with the donburi. The space is a bit small, not suitable for large groups, but good for a couple friends. Has a nice cozy feel. I will definitely eat here again.

Such a pleasure to be able to come to uma again. I come once a month, everytime i’m back. It’s so good to see this place is busy all the time, it’s really wonderful. Chef ping curates fresh fish selections weekly and come if you like exploring new things. This week I tried the cooked hamachi cheek and the tuna tataki. The aburi sushi is also amazing. I eat so much I’m stuffed everytime.

I’ve been coming here for a long time. Uma holds a special place in my heart. For the different variety and quality you get here, the price is well worth it. Behind this unassuming sushi shop is a great man, Ping. Always upbeat and greets you with a friendly face. While I don’t live in Vancouver anymore I come here as my first stop as soon as I land at YVR, today I picked up the uma special sushi and a o-toro nigiri. Don’t pass this place up, it’s a true neighbourhood gem.

When I saw a photo of their sushi donut, I wanted try it for lunch. The restaurant was very small, right across from winners, but I have never noticed it before I decided to come here. Today, I ordered the sushi doughnut (salmon on fire), Snow White roll, and air fried prawn tempura for takeout. The sushi rice was perfectly cooked and the ingredients were all very fresh with perfect flavoring. The air fried prawns which I thought would be healthier than the deep fried version, but the batter outside wasn’t light or crispy. It might be just cold by the time I got around to eating it. I might come back to try their other items.

Had a lovely dinner with my sister at Uma Sushi today. She ordered the Himawari donburi with extra cured egg yolk and miso soup, while I had the Shiromi Donburi with extra miso soup. The donburi was excellent. The fish was very fresh and tasty, you can also feel the sweetness and the texture from the slices. The portion was also great for me.We also ordered a small plate of Tako Wasabi for appetizer. I highly recommend this dish if you're a fan of raw octopus and wasabi. Uma Sushi's Tako Wasabi was hands down the best I've had in Vancouver so far.Overall, food was excellent, reasonable price, and the great service. We're definitely coming back soon!
