Flat Rock Farm Equestrian

Boarded a horse here years ago. Paddocks were always muddy which resulted in arthritic symptoms and lameness which cleared up once the horse was moved to a better facility. Horse shoes constantly blown due to the poor conditions.There was definitely an attitude here that they weren't responsible for anything and if concerns were brought up to the owners, they would blame you. We literally had a horse lifting a foot (pain caused by the poor paddock conditions) and weren't told.The coach that was here at that time was very rude to most western discipline riders and had the gall to tell those riders to clean up her jumps after a class if they wanted to use the area while constantly blaming them for items left around despite the fact that they always out their barrels away and scooped the arena when they were done.If you enjoy highschool style drama, cliquiness, and the excitement associated with finding out your horse has been injured for days without being told, this place might be for you.As mentioned, this review is detailing experiences from a couple of years ago. Maybe things are different now, maybe not, however, I have never heard good things about this facility.

I have previously used this facility for free pony rides and paid pony rides at events in the community. Over the last few years I was always pleased at the hospitality provided. I loved that they insure helmets are warn and the ponies are always gentle and once could see they were use to being rode.However I am very sadden and displeased by my recent communication with Flat rock farm boarding who still offers private pony rides.I contacted this facility four times by email. July 18th, July 22nd, Aug 5th and today Aug 6th. Debbie Long only responded to my first inquiry informing me that they still providing pony rides and that they were $25 for 30 minutes. She stated they would need to be booked ahead of time to check for availability. I made 3 attempts by email to book an appointment, but received no reply.When I called today and spoke to Deb and asked if I could bring my daughter out. I was told that she was not home and then she hung up. While I was on the phone with Deb she did not say I am not at home at the moment, therefore do not have my schedule in hand. If you could call me on------- such a day or if I could call you back I could schedule an appointment? Nor did she respond to my several emails to say I am free this day.When I was displeased with her, she did nothing to reconcile what was an unhappy potential client. I would have gladly change my mind and come out to her. I was told via pm that it was probably a good idea I was going elsewhere.In my opinion. this is no way to run a business. Communication is everything. As stated I was considering private horse lessons at this facility, but will now be looking elsewhere.I do wish them all the best in there endeavors and hope new clients will have a better experience than I have. My daughter started riding 3 years ago at Flat Rock and she absolutely loves it. The instructors and owners are very knowledgeable and eager to help riders. She has progressed with her to coach to a competition level. Plus everyone is so friendly we feel like a farm family! I highly recommend Flat Rock Farm Equestrian as it is such a wonderful experience.

Great little barn! Instructor is engaged and horses are behaved. Good environment for lessons and small shows.
