Hamdi Restaurant Somali Cuisine

Went here for lunch with colleagues after spending a few hours bowling. Everyone’s appetite was pretty high so we were really looking forward to this lunch and the food did not disappoint! Let me just say the portions were more than generous for the price, but that didn’t take away from the incredible taste of the food. Three of us had the roasted goat, another had goat shoulder and one person had chicken. The goat dishes were absolutely amazing; the meat was tender, well seasoned, and savoury. The rice that came with the dish was surprisingly tasty and well balanced with the meat. All the dishes came with refreshing mango juice, which was awesome. The chapati that came with some of the goat dishes was okay, but was a little bit heavier than expected. I wish the dish came with some sort of spicy or mild sauce for the rice dish. The chicken was a little salty, but except those two cons, I was thoroughly satisfied with this restaurant. The customer service could use some cheering up though, not exactly bad, but just a little cheering up.

August 7th 2022 (Sunday):Added some more pictures. Consistency folks. The food quality has not dropped. Friendly staff time and again I visit. They know me now by first name bases (Talk about establishing a rapport with your customers). A friendly atmosphere people and conversing and enjoying the food. I got the goat plate dinner again because its just so good. Wash it done with some chilled mango drink.A Month Ago:Went back yesterday for there famous goat plate. So tender and tasty, you barely need to use a fork or spoon to break the meat. Amazing quality. Love the veggies that compliment it and the spicy dressing they give on the side. If your not a fan of spice I would not recommend it as it is strong. But I love it! It balances the mild tasty rice you get with it. Washed the food down with some Vinto drink. Very tasty refreshing and cold on a hot day!A big shout to the staff Abdishukur and Hamda. Very knowledge about there items on the menu. Very customer service friendly and had the biggest welcoming smiles around. The restaraunt is spacious and it's a great environment to bring your friends and family to if your a fan of some quality food and even better customer service! The quality of food has been top notch and its consistent - read my previous review about a month ago below. Big portions of meat. The rice had an amazing flavor too. I love the sourness of the sauce they give with it. Get some veggies on the side as well. The meat hardly needs any effort to come off. I came here with my family and we haven’t been here in a while. Hamdi restaurant still has the taste and the quality customer service that they had years ago as well. I ordered the Goat and it was amazing. We got soup as well and also it came with mango drinks too. This place is amazing and to me is the best place to have Somali food.

I had an amazing experience visiting this restaurant today. I was drawn by the reviews and I must say I am not disappointed. I ordered a chicken stew and it was amazing. I also was given a special sauce which was slightly spicy but that just made it taste even better. The service is amazing the staff was respectful and made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be returning here again and bringing more people to share the experience. Thank you Hamdi team you guys were amazing.

It’s tragic when you finally find a go to place for your meals and all of a sudden the food that the restaurant is serving leftovers/ kept in the heater for too long. I usually drive a lot of miles to eat in this place but not anymore.

WOW GREAT RESTAURANT!!! I LOVE THEIR FOOD AND ALSO THE QUANTITY OF FOOD!! PRICES MIGHT BE A BIT HIGH, BUT WHEN YOU DON'T MIND ABOUT THE PRICES, FOOD IS JUST SCRUMPTIOUS!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. THEY ALSO HAVE NON-CARBONATED VIMTO WHICH THEY SERVE IN A BIG GLASS JUST LIKE WHEN THEY SERVE MANGO JUICE!! YUMMY WE LOVE THEIR MANGO JUICE!!! WE USED TO EAT HERE, BUT WE MOVED TO MISSISSAUGA, SO WE KIND OF STOPPED. STILL WE SOMETIMES EAT HERE ONCE IN A WHILE, BECAUSE PRICES ARE STILL EXPENSIVE COMPARED TO OTHER RESTAURANTS

I went to their Mississauga location yesterday for dinner. The food portion was very generous, reasonably priced and the staff was friendly, polite and courteous. It was a pity that they were sold out on goat shoulder at 8 PM, so had to order another goat dish. The goat meat was not as tender as one would like to have (falling off the bones); hence the low star rating. It was probably because the kitchen was struggling to keep up with the orders.

The food is excellent. However, I feel there is a lot of room for improvement in service quality. It was a long wait to get served and have my order ready. If customers are waiting in line, it will be helpful to approach them, greet them and let them know the approximate wait time.

Generous portions, plate comes with a free drink as well! Staff were great as well. Made sure we were good and gave us as much information as possible on what we could order.
