Great food, but extremely disappointed that they serve dairy milk for coffee.Beware that this is not a vegan restaurant.Service is ok. They’ve gotten a few things wrong but have always been happy to correct it.Great seating inside and out.

Get the sweet potato fries!!!First time here - I got the avocado BLT. I thought the meat substitute could have had a bit more flavour, but overall it was good. I added the sweet potato fries which came with a spicy aioli. They were AMAZING. Some of the best fries I've had, I would highly recommend! Also the happy hour deal was great!

Super popular vegan restaurant (gluten free options available) on Locke Street offering sandwiches, bowls as well as brunch options.Tables can sometimes be hard to come by during a lunch rush but it’s understandable (and worth the wait) because this place is so good!The avocado sandwich was super good, as was the burrito bowl. This is a great spot for healthy vegan options. But, if you’re looking to indulge, the cauliflower wings are what people rave about. They defy expectations, and are large chunks of cauliflower available in a multitude of sauces. Definitely worth a try (or two or three).

Good quality vegan food with good service. The place has a unique esthetic that has lots of natural light making it a wonderful cafe/eatery. We enjoyed the coffee, the apps and fries very much. This will surely be a place we visit more than once to try all their task dishes.

mid. got the avocado blt, sweet potato fries and a s’mores dessert. was really excited for the sandwich but unfortunately it really lacked flavour. it was flavourless and the avocado was more of a guac so it absorbed into the bread and tasted so plain. sweet potato fries came with out the chipotle aioli as advertised. so like getting plain dry fries with a plain sandwich- wasn’t anything special. s’mores treat was the best part. unfortunately my food was to-go , so it was a bit to late to change anything and i had no choice. i had to get ketchup from another business. food was expensive for the quality.

I came looking for an appropriate study space and I must admit, this place can do just that and more.Pricing:Drinks will cost you similarly at any coffee shop, the drink pictured is their Pumpkin Spice Latte which was just under $5. Yes once can say this is relatively “pricey” when comparing to a place like Tim Hortons but for the extra $2 you are getting a completely different and vibrant atmosphere.Atmosphere:Think of a dimmed and classy-looking atmosphere with the touch of grainy wood and plants - this is what Democracy is like. As the evening sets the music goes up, candles come out and the lights slowly go out. It really paints the place for a beautiful date spot.Customer Service:This one is an interesting one. It seems that if you have a laptop at your space the employees tend to visit your table much less compared to if you did not have a laptop or seemed visibly interactive. Don’t get my wrong, this is not a bad thing! I think it is perfect because if you had come here to study and do work, it seems as though they understand that and give you that space. In fact they do have specific tables with laptop rules so it is clear they understand that their business does attract the frequent studier (don’t worry, the rules are just simply restricting laptops for large tables to make room for dinner/lunch guests but there are plenty of small tables).I do recommend visiting this place but I do not recommend coming here to study during the peak lunch and dinner hours as it does get reasonably busy and thus distracting. Other than that; a wonderful place! Also worth checking out the street corners outside during the sunset!

I'm an omnivore but thought I'd give this place a try as I'd heard good things about it. The cauliflower wings are delicious, and huge! If you love spicy food like I do, get them with the sriracha lime sauce. (2nd pic shows what's inside a wing). The place was a little crowded at lunchtime, but I'm sure off-peak hours it could be a good place to study.

This is definitely the best coffee shop & vegetarian restaurant on Locke Street and my favourite place to stop for a coffee or snack. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed. It’s a great spot to meet-up with friends or to work and read. The food is delicious and the service is top-notch. Best chai tea latte in town!

For YEARS I have loved Democracy* and its great atmosphere. Lots has changed over the last little bit, but the great staff and service has stayed the same. It's one of my favourite things about the place.However. WHY DID YOU TAKE AWAY THE PIZZAS?! Please bring those back!! They were arguably the best things on the menu.With all the changes happening, I hope Democracy* remains Vegan as this is one of the best spots for vegan eats in Hamilton.

What a great place to eat or drink for so many reasons!It's fully vegan, the decor/vibe is electric, it's on Locke St, and the food, desserts, and drinks are epic!Try the Beyond Mac burger (add guacamole), Sweet Potato Fries, S'mores Bars, and Hello Dolly's. Trust me.
