Very interesting historical information and photos of Russian leaders and wars and the people it affected. Howw the Mennonite colonies traveled and made their homes in Canada despite their oppression. Pictured is 102 yr old Walter Martens pointing at himself cutting timber.

A really interesting museum looking at the history and beliefs of the Russian Mennonites. Mennonites suffered terribly under the cruel hands of Josef Stalin, many dying in two separate man-made famines. Much like other migrants fleeing persecution, these Mennonites weren't always welcome in Canada.

This is a wonderful place to learn about the history of the Mennonites and their settlement in the Fraser Valley. There is a replica house-barn, gardens, and artifacts. Inside the museum is a restaurant serving authentic Mennonite fare at affordable prices. It was a great experience.

We had a wonderful time exploring this museum, learning about the history of the Mennonite people. The museum is well organized and very informative. The Mennonite Heritage Society upstairs provide an excellent service to people of Mennonite heritage in researching their family history.

We finally decided to stop by to check out this place. It was a wonderful day and we had coffee & pastries that were reasonably priced & delicious. We also took a small tour of the museum that was worth our time. TQ Jenny, it was a pleasure listening to you. We had recently lost both our fur babies exactly 2 weeks apart June 12th & June 26. This trip we took on June 28 was what we needed. The people, there were super friendly & sincere. Thank you. Do stop by and check this place out extremely interesting.

Popped in late morning to discover the cafe was open. Delighted to buy perisky but sad that there was a limit (4) to baked goods I could buy. Bought 3 kinds of perisky, and are them all before getting home. Poor hubby got none. Will have to return next week for another yummy treat.Spoke with receptionist and archive staff while renewing membership. Very pleasant and helpful. Look forward to returning again.

This morning I had the opportunity to meet briefly with friends in the restaurant area and look forward to visiting the museum section at a later date. This review is only for the restaurant area. The GOOD:There is a lovely hostess who greeted me pleasantly and asked if I was joining friends. The cafeteria style venue is clean and fresh looking with plenty of space between tables. The wooden chairs are well built and look pretty comfortable although we were only standing today. Both temperature and lighting were very good with lots of natural light. I didn't have a chance to order anything today but my friends seemed to be enjoying their meals. The NOT SO GOOD: Immediately upon entering the building, there is a strong smell of cooking onions. Even though my stay was less than 15 minutes, my hair, clothing and car interior now smell of onions and my eyes are burning. I recommend that you plan accordingly ... wait until AFTER your visit here to do your laundry and personal hygiene so you don't have to do it twice lol.

From a museographic point of view, this museum is excellent! The introductory exhibits provide insights to the global history of this religious group, as well as it's activities in the local area. I also liked the pertinent moral questions in relation to Pacifism and Nationalism throughout. The homestead in the back provides us with a good display of how Mennonite settlers lived in Canada around the Turn of the Century. As an added bonus, the café provided delicious pastries, offering a culinary perspective of Mennonite heritage.
