Downey's Apple Farm

We enjoy picking strawberries and apples here every season. It is very well organized. The staff are really helpful.The strawberries we got are small but really sweet. We'll come back in August for the apple picking.

Beautiful and very well maintained family farm, we had our first farm experience picking fresh strawberries. A 4 litre basket costs $26 which the whole family had a great time filling with freshly picked fruit. We were able to fill our basket with ripe and sweet strawberries. Great learning experience for young kids, will definitely visit again once apple picking season starts.

Must visit with your kids, family and friends for a fun day. Enjoy nature while walking through the horizon wide farm lands and pick your favorite fruits at different seasons. Both apple and strawberry picking has their own beauty and fun. Besides, they have a kids play area, food truck, restaurant and shops.

We loved picking strawberries from the farm. This was our first experience at Downey’s and I was impressed with how the entire picking activity was organized in spite of the rush. The staff was very helpful . They had a small farm with domestic animals and was a good experience. They also had ample water points to have ourselves cleaned up which was good.The strawberry was big in size and were very sweet. Looking forward to their apple picking season .

Had a bad experience strawberry picking here. The vast majority of the strawberries were rotten and the only ones that were okay were tiny. I accidentally walked out of the area they said we had to pick in and there were a lot better ones there, which leads me to believe they give people who come to pick the short end of the stick. Will not be coming back. Andrews scenic acres is a much better place for strawberry picking.

You'll have the option of purchasing 2, 4 or 6 litre baskets for your strawberries, and prices ranging from $13 - $39. It's worth buying the 6 litre basket, the strawberries are so good - perfectly juicy and sweet!!Staff are very friendly and helpful. I love apple picking at Downey Farms. It's about $2/lb as bags are 10lbs for $20 (3 ppl) or 20lbs for $40(5 ppl). They have a person limit on bags as well.They offer wagon rides around the orchard as it can be quite a distance from the entrance to the apples you want. Ladders can be hard to find at times. Even when it's busy, it doesn't feel too crowded.Although the apples are more expensive than the grocery store, they will last a super long time, and I always prefer them to grocery store apples as you have guaranteed freshness.They do have limited items you can purchase at the end, such as: gourds, pumpkins, apples, honey, etc. They were also selling food this year. Hotdogs, poutine, and apple fritters. They have washrooms at the main entrance with hand wash stations outside.No large knapsacks or purses are allowed.There have been years when I've been, and all the apples I wanted were closed even though the website said they were open. I always recommend going the first weekend a variety of opens for the season.

Came on July 8 2023 and the farm was extremely busy and the strawberry fields very picked through. The berries are quite sweet but small and hard to find. You will need to squat and look very hard to find good berries. Took a long time to fill a small basket. Raspberries were plentiful however. Wish I could have checked out the rest of the farm’s features like the petting zoo but doing all farm activities other than U-pick was an extra $14 charge per person. Wouldn’t recommend people coming for strawberries anymore this season unless there are more fields they plan to open in better condition.
