DO NOT HAVE YOUR TAXES DONE BY HIM unless you want to pay thousands more in income taxes than necessary or you want to be audited!To start with he can’t even be bothered to contact you when he is done your taxes expects you to call and check up on him??! Even told me at one point that I better call him in a few days in case he forgot. Next, he did not claim a huge deduction for income tax return. When questioned first he told me I was wrong and that his computer program always takes the deductions in the most advantageous way. Apparently even though he charges a Chartered Accountant fee (TWICE what other tax preparers charge) all he does is plug #s into a program and does not even look into them to see if they make sense! When I told him that the deductions should have totaled much more than he claimed his new excuse was he didn’t know if one of the expenses were allowable! His job is to find that out!! When I told him it was (easily found out thru the CRA website) and he adjusted the return the amount I owed in taxes was $1,300 less than the return he originally prepared. He offered no apology whatsoever about this and acted like having to PAY $1300 more than necessary was no big deal!After his adjusted return was sent in, the CRA contacted me asking me to provide receipts for a different deduction. I had no record of the deduction they wanted a receipt for so I asked him what it was from. Once again he took no responsibility, offered no apology and tried to blame it on me- said he only claimed what I told him. When he gave me a breakdown of what he claimed I found that he did not enter a decimal place which resulted in claiming THOUSANDS more than my receipt I gave him stated. Once I brought this to his attention he ignored all future correspondence from me despite my asking for assistance in working with the CRA. He has left me holding the bag and will not help at all! And because I only paid the taxes he told me I owed back in April the CRA is now charging me interest!
