The students are really kind and attentive. They take a lot of care to make sure they arent making any mistakes. The downside to this is my haircut took 3 hours and 15 minutes. I knew it might take a little longer, but I wasn't really prepared for that. I also wanted something a bit more specific, and that wasn't really achieved. The haircutting technique was good. It was just more of a standard haircut than I was looking for.I think it's a good value if you have time since it's $10, and it's probably better for more standard styles.

My experience at VCC Salon wasn't great. The haircut took 3 hours, which was frustrating. It would have been helpful if the website had informed clients in advance that a haircut could take up to three hours.I understand that clients take a risk when choosing a student hairstylist. While the price at VCC Salon is good, it's essential for the student and their teacher to handle the client's head with care. We are all human, and our feelings should be taken into account.Rather than complaining about clients who don't leave tips, student hairstylists should focus on providing excellent service to encourage tipping. Tips are a bonus, and clients aren't obligated to leave them. However, if they provide great service and skill, people will naturally want to show their appreciation through tipping.

I had such a great experience here. I got my hair cut with Joy. I was going for just a roughly one inch trim off my curly, frizzy, balding hair. The facility itself is large and nice and clean. They have some couches out front where you can wait after you check in at the front desk. I was shocked by how great the bathrooms are. A lot better than UBC, and totally clean. They even had a novel kind of hand dryer built into the sinks. Musically, old school soul music was playing, which I loved. The Spinners beats hearing some atrocious modern pop song.I got my hair shampooed with a blissful scalp massage. The actual haircut was supervised by an instructor who walked through the plan to cut my hair with the stylist. The instructor would pop by occasionally and answer any questions from my stylist. It takes students longer than a career stylist to cut your hair, I think that goes without saying, and the more complex your cut, the longer its gonna take. You have to be patient to sit through this. I've always had a respect for hairdressers as it's a job where you can't hide your mistakes, and it could take a long time for the hair to regrow if you mess it up badly enough. The pro here is that you don't have to pay very much. I did tip, which apparently some people don't.Overall I was satisfied with my cut and I would recommend it to anyone who is both patient and frugal, especially for a simpler cut.

Good price and some services are really worth the time.. like for cutting and coloring hair instructor monitors all the steps so the possibilities of something go wrong is less. I used hair color and gel manicure. Hair color was good as long as mine was solid color but gel came out in 2nd day. I can not say the quality of material was. It good but every round after nail polish only 1 min to dry up. Which is really impossible to have good quality work…

Haircut has always taken a couple hours. Used as an example for instructors to demonstrate a cut on. If you get a student you prefer know you can request them next time. Please remember to tip and have patience. Schedule more time than they suggest. Don't hesitate to speak up if you're unhappy. You can even reschedule for an instructor to go over concerns.

I went their last time, I was so happy with the job done. It looked so good for the little money I spent. Even though the student didn’t have enough experience. Their instructor helped to make it look like what I wanted. Today, it was a terrible experience. The student didn’t know how to speak English properly. The instructor was helping other students. The shampoo took about 1 hr and then the instructor asked if I wanted blow dry straight. He said sorry no time the students have a test today. The other supervisor cut my hair because the student didn’t know anything, which was a good thing because I was scared that it is time for me to run. I wanted to cut spilt ends that’s the first thing I told them I wanted to do. The student had no idea what it means so they didn’t do it. Then they diffused my hair without asking (I had no other choice) and did it so quickly because they had to go for their test. I look terrible. I wanted some peaceful time and they gave me exactly opposite. Long story short it depends on the student and instructor you get because last time it was lovely. This time couldn’t be more terrible.

Very disorganized place. We were booked for manicure and pedicure. When we got there, they told us , the person who does the gel ( pedicure) is not available. Our appointments was for 1:30pm and 3:30pm.Due to the cancellation of the pedicure appointment, we had to wait till 3:30pm.They need to sort their booking and stop wasting clients time.

It.takes a bit longer than outside salons but these are students. Their instructors are there to supervise and to address any concerns. The massage was very good by Mandeep. She checked in with me about massage pressure I would prefer and she did a great job.
