Grohmann Knives

These have been the best knives we have ever owned. I have abused more then one of these knives and they come out fine. For the price and the great quality you really cant go wrong.

Amazing experience, bought a #3 seconds. Don't see anything wrong with it. Amazing quality, feels great in the hand and cuts like butter. The customer service is top notch, I requested a diffrent sheath in the notes but it was sent with the normal one. They offered to send a new one out postage paid.

I am posting this review as a cautionary tale. Grohmann may be competent at sharpening their own knives, however, they destroyed my two Wusthof knives when I took them there for sharpening These are the only two that I own with a full bolster so it may be that they do not know how to sharpen such a knife. I should have taken them back immediately and I did not, which is the excuse they have given for not at least making an attempt to reshape either knife. I have included pictures; unfortunately I did not take one of the 8” chef knife before I took it back and they “fixed” it by cutting the bolster off to meet the edge of the blade where they had cut out a substantial amount of steel. You can see this on the paring knife but it was far more dramatic on the larger knife. What I am left with is a chef knife with a blade curved in the wrong direction and a gap where it would normally cut when rocked.

Own several of these knives from the military

I own 7 of their knives, and have for over 20 years. I regularly sharpen them, and they're absolutely fabulous. A solid company and I've never had any troubles with any component of my knives. I highly recommend them.

Customer service is terrible. They sent the wrong knife. When I talked to customer service, they said send a email. They were three days behind answering email. Because they are in Canada, returns have to go through customs. I finally gave up and kept the wrong knife.

Have had a DH Russell Trout knife for almost 45 years. Visited the factory here and asked if they could do a factory resharpen whilst we did the tour. Was asked to leave it for a few hours and come back. They gave my beloved belt knife a “Spa Day”! It was sharpened, metal buffed, rosewood handle polished and waxed. Wow. What service. Wish we had brought our even older knife along as well! Bought a beautiful chef’s knife on the way out as well.

Ordered a custom #4 in carbon steel and the fit and finish is beyond terrible. The blade is unsharpened and barely beveled on one side. The edge geometry with the sabre grind is not even from one side to the other. The grind on the backside is also very uneven and there is even a sharp ridge on one side you can catch your thumbnail in. The handle scales are completely uneven and edges are barely sandes/rounded. Extremely uncomfortable to hold in the hand. The shape of the handle does not match whats on the website at all and all the sharp boxy edges means it doesnt fit into the sheath very well without catching. Overall, nothing on this knife is uniform or well done. What a shame as I have been using a Grohmann #2 for over a decade. Fav knife. But quality control here is very poor. This should have never been shipped to a customer. I will attempt to return this product for a refund.
