Long Lake Boat Launch

Welcome to Long Lake,pullout/boat ramp.Its not a rest stop,no toilets here.Although a few picnic tables,Great for a quick short pull off,going north only,drive safe.Shaw Open for WIFI. That's convenient.

This boat launch is unusable..It has almost a one foot dropoff..Why doesnt Nanaimo keep up on anything..We pay our taxes and get nothing in return.I guess I will have to go to Victoria where they look after ALL there boat launches.

The boat ramp was barely adequate with sharp potholes and drop offs. But we did catch several trout and had a lovely time fishing.

Nice place to see the whole long lake closed-up. There were picnic tables and bench situated around the lake. Not much to see on this season unlike in summer were we can swim and sitback on the small sand beach.

Ramp is pretty good. Nice parking and a.ple width for a lake.

Checked this boat ramp today for my 12 ft sailing dinghy for a small trailer launch.The ramp is in VERY poor shape, a large drop off from the pavement with a concrete block in the middle ready to rip off an engine oil pan.This is great place to hand launch a small dinghy, kayaks, or SUP’s but my dinghy is too heavy to launch by hand.Loads of parking on a Wednesday in September.

Best boat launch on the lake. I always use this one to launch my boat into the lake water. This is an extremely long and narrow lake. Fun to drive my boat at 60Km per hour in the designated boating zones in this long lake. Once saw a man swim all the way around the lake and drink a whole case of lucky when he got back, absolute legend.

I stop here every time I'm coming home from the mainland. After the drive to the ferry, 2+hours in the ferry, my 4 legged companion is desperate to go to the bathroom. She gets to relieve herself but no where for her human to do the same. Many boats are launched from here which means there are people that could use a washroom. Maybe free doggy bags like at the ferry parking would encourage cleaning up after their pets. It drives me absolutely crazy that humans don't pick up feces and dispose appropriately. A few bad pet owners give all owners a bad reputation.

I would have given this place to stars because I love this beach but the amount of people not cleaning up after their dogs is disgusting. 2 weeks ago I had to leave due to smell of poo along boat ramp. There's young children coming to go to the beach and there is dog poop everywhere. Twice now I've gotten into car not knowing I stepped in something. Please people this is a place for everyone not just a place to bring your dog to the toilet. There is a garbage can before you go back to car. Bring a bag and put it in the garbage don't leave it or throw the bag to decompose so it just gets stepped in. The people in this area are lovely but please guys... Think of others. Thank you.
