Pond Road Residence

Best residence at york for sure. You have an oven and stove and a nice fridge and lots of cupboard space and a bathroom to share with just one other person. I personally hate communal washrooms, when I was at the Glendon residences they were always gross and it’s not like it’s attached to your room so when you feel all greasy and gross and need to shower you have to walk through a hallway of people you don’t know to get to a gross bathroom and it’s just not nice, I absolutely love having a bathroom at Pond that I only have to share with one person, and I can use my own, not terrible toilet paper and keep my toiletries in the bathroom and it’s just a huge step up from communal. And the kitchen oh I love the kitchen, I have a significant dietary restriction so I have to cook all of my own food and I love having a real kitchen which you just don’t necessarily get with other residences. Plus the windows for each room are huge they bring in so much natural light and your closet is built into the wall and they make good use of the space. Again it’s designed much nicer than Glendon residences, I absolutely hate the Glendon residences, can’t believe I had to walk down 3 flights of stairs any time I wanted to was a dish in a real sink, and I’d consider using the bathroom sink but half the time it was gross!! And the walls were terrible too, never felt like home, but Pond road residence I truly feel at home and I don’t want to leave it!

Friendly building, good staff. Housing office hours should be longer tho.

Nice and full of amenities.Students can use special rooms when it's busy inside the condo!There is free wifi 8 down/ 5 up.

TLDR; Choose Quad insteadIf you choose Pond Rd as your undergrad residence you can bet on walking up and down the stairs everyday since the elevators don't work, power hungry porters, mandatory monthly meetings, overcharged rooms (1.25k/month for a small room and half kitchen), taps/faucets that do not work, no A/C, loud roomates and pretentious priveledged girls. Choose Quad instead, it is the same price without the BS and better quality facilities.

Stayed here for $170 a night for the Congress conference. I can’t believe students have to sleep on those brick like beds all year I was dying after 2 days. No AC, hot and stuffy, shower dripped and the plastic mattress cover with no top sheet was pretty awful. Not worth the money for this drab place, felt very institutional.

One of the worst residences ive ever lived in. Stay away from this overpriced place, especially if you are an international student. One of the dons tried to rape me and the authorities did nothing.

Lived here for 3 years during my undergrad. Thought the space and facilities were perfect for students, since you only have to live with one other person. It gave me lots of opportunities to get involved in student and residence life.
