Public Parking Lot

Used to be free parking but now isn’t and you will get a $60 ticket if you don’t pay. What a scam. Keep it free so people will actually want to keep going down to our waterfront

I rarely leave bad reviews. But this parking lot used to be free when I visited last time. They are now charging with minimal sign on this. Very easy to be missed when eyes busy hunting for a spot. At least a meter at the entrance/exit would be more obvious. Had to pay the 60 parking ticket not because I refuse to pay for parking but I had no idea!

We scanned the code and the website was bugging out. We couldn’t stand there for hours waiting for it to work. We had places to be! We were only gone for a couple hours on a boat and this easy $5 parking turned into a $60 parking ticket, so stupid!! It was their fault!!

They just made this free parking lot paid, and the signs are minimalistic at best. Was there 15 minutes and came back to 3 officers taking plate numbers and handing out 60 dollar tickets. Just plain thievery...

I live in Pickering and can park for free but I think it is sad the city put in paid parking and were too lazy to at-least install meters. We should be encouraging people to come the area and spend money at local businesses not chase them away. Tip. if your coming for a walk you can park for free at at Alex Roberston Park off Sandy beach. it is about 15 minute walk and little hilly not feasible for everybody but it an option. Shame on our Mayor for doing this. they should clear the dry dock marina on the east side and make parking free.

Very good setup if you download the hotspot parking app. First time visited there and saw signposts to pay through the app. My internet was bad and it was taking forever to download the app. Walked near the entrance to find the pay meter but couldn’t find any. I saw many other cars had printed pay receipts so there must have been some arrangements to pay but I just couldn’t find it. By that time I figured my internet was good at the entrance and the app was installed. Sign in was easy and payment was easy too. When I came back 30 minutes before my parking expire, I noticed there was refund option, I took it and got $2.55 back. How nice was that? Loved this option. Removed one star because I couldn’t find the physical payment machine but at the end I liked it!

They recently changed the parking to paid parking. The paid signs that they installed were extremely tiny with no paid meter installed. The only way to pay is online. Always visit Pickering every year and go to a nearby restaurant to eat after, never visit again from this shady city scam. They should of at least put up a large sign in front of the entrance to notify visitors that they changed the parking to paid parking instead of trapping people with a 60$ ticket.

SIXTY DOLLAR TICKET here. Absolutely disgusting scam. I had no idea it was paid parking !!!!!! Mastermind con artists here. Despicable. Robbing our community, we can’t even visit our parks anymore.They are super sneaky and if you don’t know it’s paid parking (like me), you will miss it. I would have paid the 5 bucks but I had no idea. This is obviously intentional so they can rake in the money from unsuspecting people. I will never return.

In order to park in this location you have to have a cell phone capable of downloading the app. Being a senior l have no need or resources to have that kind of phone. There are no options...so in order to visit the nearest parking lot is private at the restaurant across the street and they wanted $20....how about free parking for seniors? It seems that seniors are the only ones paying for anything these days.

Used to be free, used to come here all the time and spend money at the local businesses nearby, now I haven't been back since they started charging for parking, its not worth it, cant do anything without someone wanting your money these days, cant even enjoy a park near my house anymore.
