H/W School of Ballet

This is honestly the best dance school in Calgary for ballet and contemporary, and performing and improving and being mentored. The teachers are all incredible. Not only can they teach, but they have all danced professionally so they can actually share real experiences, and show the students. The environment is supportive and fun and the friendships made are wonderful. I highly recommend this school to anyone who loves to dance at any level.

We are incredibly blessed to have such amazing teachers at this ballet school!  Despite the ups and downs of the pandemic, the constant changing of rules, Zoom classes, in person studio classes, outdoor green space classes, these dedicated teachers, staff, and volunteers put together an incredible year end performance on stage with live audiences with only a week to prepare!  It meant so much to us after all the shutdowns last year.  Their passion for dance, care and commitment to the students is what makes this ballet school so special!  Thank you!

This is currently my second year attending the Hattori Williamson School of Ballet and my experience has been at the highest of quality. They are the most dedicated, caring, supportive, understanding and encouraging teachers in my history of training. They have expected the highest of standard from me and upheld me to this level on a daily basis. The teachers have individualistic expectations for each student, varying on the personal level, needs and growth of the student. The staff has high expectations for us as a class and will accept nothing else but the absolute best from each individual. Not only has the staff pushed me on an artistic level but as well as on a personal level. The teachers are always there to assist me with any personal issues I may be having, even if it unrelated to the ballet studio. I see them not only as my teacher but also as my mentors, guiding me through my journey. These teaches have been my biggest assets for the past two years and have had such an incredible influence on me. They have taught me about work ethic, self motivation, expectations and self-improvement. They have never put any limits on any student and see the potential in each and every individual. The environment created is very friendly, and low stress where all students from all classes interact positively with one another. The class sizes are very small ranging from about three to ten individuals per a class. The staff puts their best foot forward daily and expects the same from us as their students. I couldn't be any happier with my experience at the H/W School of Ballet and recommend this ballet school for dancers of all ages and levels.

We absolutely love H/W and the teachers there. I have two young girls who are registered. The teachers are professional, relevant, and experienced. They genuinely care about the success of their business and their students. We love the smaller class sizes and the intimate instruction that they receive. We’ve participated in the summer camp for multiple years and it’s by far my daughters favourite camp to attend. We won’t go anywhere else!

My daughter is new to H/W this year and the growth she has shown is very exciting! The teachers are so talented. The class sizes are intimate and the children in the classes are all so sweet and supportive. It is a wonderful environment for creative growth and education. The teachers are so full of knowledge and experience, truly these kids are in the best of hands.

H/W School of Ballet has been a game-changer for our son. There is such a strong focus on technique and even the opportunity to perform with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. Such well-respected teachers in the professional world can provide incredible growth to all dancers. I am so excited to see my son's development in the coming years.

Our son absolutely loves the performance opportunities he's been given through H/W Ballet. A true gem! The studio is run and taught by professional dancers that have trained and danced around the world. Our ballerina has blossomed technically and artistically since joining this studio. I danced classical ballet for 15 years at a high level, and to this date, none of the studios that are highly ranked, come close to the high standards of this studio. The studio is located centrally and the class sizes are small, so you get a lot of individual attention! Students also have the opportunity to audition for exchange programs (e.g., Germany), participate in YAGP competitions (not mandatory) and to dance with renowned professional dancers at the annual “Blue Gala”.
