Worst experience. We waited 3 hours for our car. 1.5 hours were due to Mohamed telling us that we could not come before the exact time of the booking. They also added extra tire management fees worth 56 USD that weren't included in the booking. They will find any way to rip you off.

2/2 Review:I had two experiences with this Thrifty Car Rental. The first was upon picking up the car, which I’ve noted in a separate review. The second was upon returning the car.Normally I leave reviews with positive feedback but it has been difficult to find anything positive to note here. At least while I had the car, everything went very smoothly.I had this rental for 3 weeks and at some point, whether before I rented the car or while I had it, a small rock chip was in the windshield. Since I was asked to sign the paperwork stating that the car was in good shape, before ever seeing it and that it was covered in salt/sand upon pick up, I have no way to know when the chip was created.At the return station, I was instructed to stay back and sign papers so they could have the chip repaired the next day for $60. I needed to leave for my flight and was informed that I had to stay to sign or they would call the police, so I obliged. I was told to expect an email from their adjuster with the details before any charges would be made to my credit card. Instead, two weeks later, they retroactively charged my credit card for the cost of a whole new windshield, recalibrate sensors and daily rate for loss of use.I have spent HOURS communicating with the location Manager, Customer Service, Billing Department, Claims Department and the Auto Glass Repair location they used (and 3 other locations for reference).I was offered a $100 voucher for a rental with them in the next 12 months as compensation for the whole ordeal.All the glass repair shops said the same thing: The windshield is under $300 to replace, rock chips are under $50, any chip smaller than a loonie should be repaired (not replace windshield) to maintain the integrity of the glass, and they all had same day openings. They also informed me that the only reason for recalibrating the sensors is if there was a collision or direct damage to the sensor. Which in my case, there wasn’t.My rock chip (I’ll include a photo) was less than 5mm in diameter and not spider cracked at all. Even the location that did the windshield replacement said they advised to repair the chip but that Thrifty chose otherwise.I believe I was wrongly charged and taken advantage of in this situation. It’s not even clear that I was the person who incurred this rock chip, yet I was willing to pay for its repair at the quoted “$60”.The Billing department and supervisors at their Customer Service line all agreed with me after seeing the photos and correspondence. They agreed to process a refund for the difference in cost. I would still pay for the rock chip fee “$60”. I was informed to expect the refund in 4-8 business days, only to not receive it. When I called back, they said that the location manager refuses to refund anything. Then stated that something happened to the car after I dropped it off and it merited the charges for replacing windshield, recalibrating sensors and loss of use for the days it was in the shop. Last I checked, it remains the responsibility of Thrifty to cover anything that occurred after I dropped it off.As a consumer, we have tools such as the BBB, Provincial Consumer Complaint sites & Google Reviews to help balance the scales of consumer relations. Since this matter was left unresolved, and the location refuses to return my call or issue the refund, Civil Court remains a viable option.If you have concerns about their policies or mandatory surprise fees, or any other issues during your rental, I encourage you to share them here and to read reviews and complaints ahead of time to make informed decisions.Some credit card companies cover rental insurance and will pay for claims of this type. As will Glass Insurance. In my case, neither were applicable.Photos included are from a dash cam video while I had the car, and one from their return station after they circled the rock chip with their yellow paint marker.

I had a horrible experience at This location with Mustaph. The car that i rented was unsafe for traveling and I went there to exchange it but This Mustaph guy was the rudest staff that I Ever encountered. he didnt do anything to solve my problem, was extremelly rude and gave me Wrong information. He didnt change the car and I had to travel with an unsafe car. Im opening a complain in the specific channels as well but for other clients: RUN FROM THIS AGENCY! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Mixed experience.- the car I had ordered was not available - A dodge Charger (full size) was replaced by a Toyota Camry (intermediate size as on Toyota's site)- The first car had a tire pression indicator on. Even though this might have been due to snow tires being installed, after insisting they finally let me take another Camry which didn't have any problem but had a wet floor...and delayed us- We came back two hour late on original timing and only after long discussion did they agree to reduce the penalty due to the delay we had experienced at pick-up... Petros was helpful in getting this done.

Awful experience. I was told they had a vehicle to rent and the person asked if I would return to same location, I said no I wanted to return it somewhere else. So he tells me that's not possible. I then say fine I'll return it here and he then refused to proceed to the rental because I told him at first I wanted to return somewhere else. I was honest, I thought I had the option. Considering the number of flights canceled and the nightmare at the airport. I can understand the unavailability of a car but not the fact that it was available but was refused. Both men at the front counter were awful, would not listen to me at all and were just trying to ascertain their power over a female. I was mad, because person literally refused to rent me a vehicle of fear" I would not bring it back.... I will never give them my business"

Not a good experience. Had a reservation (via Hotline; a story in itself) after a 5-hour flight from BC. Two overworked staff at shared desk with a line-up of around 40 people. Check -in took approximately 1.5 hours.Extortionate taxes and add-ons. Desk staff would not accept the insurance I had paid for. Then had to walk what seemed like a half a mile to the other side of the parkade for the car - which was not in the Thrifty parking area. Finally found it in a Hertz stall.Will not rent from Thrifty again.

An endless scandal.Rent a car in Canada for 10 days.When I return it, they check that everything was ok (fuel, damage). Everything was ok, full fuel (full done a few minutes before the return) I leave the keys and go away.I come back from vacation and after a few days I find a charge of €221!!!I write to the car rental company and they tell me that the charge is due to the fact that I returned the car without petrol !!! But how?! Scandal, thieves.After several emails and a lot of wasted time, I demonstrate through bank transactions and through the petrol station receipt that the tank has been filled up a few minutes before the return.Well, they finally admit the mistake with an apology and give me back the wrongly withheld amount.Now the fun part.... 2 weeks go by and what happens?! Again they charge me the amount of €221!!! Incredible, outrageous. I've already reported it to the Fraud office and this time I'm going to go through the law.A mistake can happen but, given the reviews of all the customers, these companies are real criminal associations and someone should do something to stop it!

Among all car rental companies I have dealt with, Thrifty/Hertz at Montreal , Trudeau Airport (YUL) was the worst.They gave me 2 options of giving the car I booked if I waited 3 hours !!! Or a smaller car.They did not walk by the car and show the current damages, just pass me the key and asked me to look for the car (took me 35 min to find the car)Then, when dropping off the car, they point out a small chip on front windshield that was already there !The agent did not even sat in the car to check other essentials! He already knew where the damage was, even before checking the original paper (showing the damages which was already done). The truth is, he was trying to pin this damage to first customer that has not paid for insurance. this was truly one of my worst experiences in my life with a rental company!The issue is not just money! The problem is that they know you are in rush to get to your flight, and they use it in their own favour.Strongly suggest get an uber and rent from other companies that are away from airport. They are not trusted, I wish I had checked the reviews before renting.

I booked a car through Expedia, the itinerary showed total $615 including tax and fees. While I was at the Thrifty counter on April 27 , the guy worked there charged me $915, which is $615 add tax and fees. I showed him the reservation, but he didn’t care at all. I was really upset. I am a first time visitor to Montreal. This worker not only ruined their company’s reputation, but also ruined my impression of Montreal. Be careful if you rent a car from this company, they are dishonest and not trustworthy.

Avoid Thrifty YUL at all cost. I prepaid a car for a week and it was denied to me and to other customers, arguing that there were no cars available, that ended being a lie.The guy at the front desk enjoys having some people" to wait for hours. He was rude and sarcastic to any customer that was not a "white male". He told me that I should get a car from another company and after waiting for two hours I finally did that. Now I'm spending my vacations trying to get my money back. This person will make sure that you have the worse welcome to Montreal."
