Unknown to many students, CECA has many components to it as an organization (it's not only WaterlooWorks!). The career advising sessions with Eva were incredibly helpful and professional. Every undergraduate student gets 5 free sessions (and grad students get 3), so make sure you take advantage of them!

My experience with career counselling at the Center for Career Action was amazing. As stated in other other reviews, undergrads get 5 free sessions but as my career counsellor stated, you will probably only need 3. Eva was beyond amazing, I definitely recommend talking to her. One important thing to note is that I spent most of my undergrad thinking that these services are only available to co-op students but thats WRONG! All UW undergrads have access to this service so take advantage!! Alumni even get 3 free appointments as well.

CECA unfortunately doesn’t have the best reputation among students, so when I showed up for my career development appointment (you know, to discover who I am and stuff) I was surprised to find it wasn’t a waste of time at all!My advisor was honest, kind, and thoughtful in her responses. She helped me to identify my core values – the things essential to my satisfaction in any work environment – and gave me practical advice to find a coop aligned with those preferences. I learned how to brand myself through my resume, how to more effectively search for jobs, and how to think strategically about my long-term goals.I now see co-op not just as something to grin and bear – a thing that happens to me – but as a tool I can control to build myself a better future.

I want to personally thank Eva Skuza. She is the most talented career advisor I have come across in UW. I spent 5 years of my undergraduate career in Waterloo and she was extremely helpful in giving me insights for job search and how to land a job you really seek. Her methods work and she is extremely knowledgeable in recruitment and how companies operate and most importantly what they seek in candidates.Aside from my personal review of Eva. I believe that the CECA is a great resource for students to take advantage of. They have many sessions in different aspects of the job search and I wish I had utilized this more as an undergraduate student.

I would like to personally thank Eva Skuza for how helpful she has been. She has been an absolute pleasure to work with and the resume/cover letter critique appointments I've made with her have been so helpful! She really took my resumes to the next level and I appreciate how enthusiastic she has been during the whole process. If you're looking to book resume/cover letter critiques, definitely consider Eva because she's amazing.Overall, CECA has been really helpful in assisting me with career advising, resume/cover letter critiques, as well as planning for further education/grad school. It's a really great resource that I think a lot of students overlook (which is a mistake I made all throughout my undergraduate degree) so definitely make use of it while you're here because they can provide valuable feedback and advise especially if you're feeling lost.
