L'Orée du Bois
This is our 2nd visit and we had a wonderful time. Food was amazing as well as the wine pairings. Staff was very friendly and attentive. The beef my partner had was slightly over-cooked (he asked for medium-well) unexpectedly the staff brought it back to the kitchen and 15 minutes later served a perfectly cooked one for him. At the end of the meal, the manager gave us their homemade salad dressing as a gift and apologised for the overcooked beef. We were really surprised and pleased with all the arrangements and will definitely come back very soon!

Lovely ambiance, great presentation!L’Oree du Bois has been a staple on the Ottawa Gatineau food scene for almost 4 decades, recently placing 4th nationally on the TripAdvisor’s best fine dining restaurants. It is located on the edge of Gatineau park, nestled in an abundance of greeneries. A lovely garden welcomes guests, followed by a charming century old farmhouse, promoting that warm and cozy feeling.I have not been here for many years, and found the large patio and outdoor grill welcoming! The interior decor has also gone through an update, more simplistic and streamlined to suit the more modern clientele. The table d’hôtel menu is excellent, providing many options (although not many vegetarian dishes), and for a small added fee, you can upgrade some dishes to include more expensive options such as pan seared foie gras. The dishes are well prepared, cooked to the right doneness and excellent presentation. What came SLIGHTLY below was the taste, a lot of salt, gravy and heavy cream were used, overpowering the fresh ingredients. Would like to see the new chef making dishes that emphasize the taste of the food itself.Staff was really nice and accommodating, although they probably need more training to be more attentive, I waited for more than 15 minute for my paired wine to accompany the main dish. Very small issue, the waitress was otherwise super polite. There seemed to have a shortage of staff, just like every other service organization post pandemic. People need to be more patient now.Wine pairing was superbly prepared, very satisfied! The venue is beautiful all year round, we’ll definitely be back for more delicious food!

Just a short jaunt from Ottawa we were treated to an excellent experience where the only thing that surpassed the service was the food. Please accept my apologies as this review cannot due justice to the restaurant. The atmosphere is charming, rustic, warm and welcoming. One will not get the feeling of it being precocious. It is a set menu...with options...where for $75 person you can really, really enjoy a four course meal that includes a soup, appetizer, a main dish, and desert. An accommodation was made for Mom as she would not be able to appreciate a four course meal so the restaurant charged by the plate.I am gluten sensitive...and was pleasantly surprised at the availability/flexibility with just a tweak or two to satsfy my every whim (including GF buns right out of the oven). I will dare to say this is no doubt due to recipes being made from scratch, in other words avoiding prepackaged items in the meal prep. Our server was very knowledgeable of the food, offering suggestions for different selections in order to have the best taste experience, as well as the wine pairings.Dinner was for five...celebrating Mom's 89th birthday, with cocktails and two bottles of wine worked out to about $120 per person before gratuity. We will be back!Of special note there is outside seating available.

Absolutely incredible. My husband and I went for a dinner date and we were blown away! The food is incredible quality and cooked to perfection. We had a soup, app, main dish and dessert and each dish was amazing. We will be coming back again and again! The price was very reasonable, we felt great paying for what we got.

I wish I could give a higher rating out of 5!Impeccable service and delicious food!Thank you Vincent for making my second time, and my boyfriends 1st time a memorable night we will remember forever!I have yet to experience this level of service...truly incredible. We got this amazing freshly baked bread accompanied by a tasty whipped butter. We ordered from the 4 course option, which you are also able to choose a la carte from the same menu. We each got a soup, n appetizer, main, a dessert and a coffee or tea for 75$ each along with a recommendation of a bottle of wine from Vincent which was 49$.We got the dessert as takeaway. Can't wait to try the homemade salad dressing! We will definitely be back! For two 2 appetizers and two mains is plenty. We wanted to experience the full option and the soup and desert were phenomenal! There is a nice patio and wish I thought to reserve that instead but the inside is nice and it's well isolated so even with a lot of people it's not super loud!Merci to Vincent, the fabulous chef and the rest of the staff who helped answer questions and make sure our water was always full!❣️

Our wedding dinner was a success thanks to the wonderful staff at L'Orée du Bois in Chelsea, QC. Every detail was explored. The plates were gorgeous and the food was, as expected, delicious. The tables and settings were perfect - simple, functional, and did not intimidate the uninitiated. The service was discrete, pleasant, and not chatty. The servers are well trained professionals doing what was necessary to make our time in the restaurant as stress-free and comfortable as possible. There was a small issue with the wine that we were served. Rather than simply replace the bottle, the server brought three samples of alternatives from which we could choose. Brilliant! The balance of the the three hours were spent enjoying carefully and lovingly prepared food, good conversation, and the interesting comments on the meal. The food got the attention it deserved. Thanks to our servers whose names I wish I could mention. Thanks to the pastry chef who prepared our delicious wedding cake. She went above and beyond what was promised. Thanks to the chef and staff who prepared a memorable meal making our wedding a fabulous success.Cheers and I can't wait to return for the Ris de veau.Dr. Wayne Menard

Beautiful place. Great service. Menu is seasonal, so every time you come back there are new dishes. There were 4 of us. We all had different dishes and they were all amazing. Great choice of wine as well.

Vincent was absolutely amazing as a server. His positivity allowed us to look forward to the experience of this quaint restaurant out in this urban oasis. As busy as the restaurant was for a Friday evening, he was on point with service. He explained every wine and food service that was brought. Great atmosphere. Will definitely go again!
