This beautiful historical site looks amazing from far and close. Great spot for outside even and to look into some CANADIAN history.

The St. Boniface Cathedral-Basilica, Mother Church of Western Canada and historical site of Manitoba, was established in 1818 in the Archdiocese of Saint-Boniface.That’s the only information that I can find no information on what happened also on site there isn’t any information which is a little disappointing. So you are visiting a facade and the new church has been built behind

I love bringing visitors here to see the cathedral. Beautiful in the daylight, but also stunning at night. Walking out the front you'll see the esplanade and the human rights museum at night, picture attached. Couldn't find Louis Riel's tombstone in the dark, though not the plaque that described the fire.

An imposing and impressive edifice facing the river. The cemetery in front of the Cathedral is also a worthwhile place of visit, exhibiting various important scenes of historic importance

Great visit when in Winnipeg. The cathedral is amazing and you can find all the resting places for local heroes. Is like walking on a map! The event venue in the basement is outdated but clean. No natural light nor cellphone coverage, a little bit claustrophobic.

I’m not a religious person, but I loved going there. I must confess that I entered the temple because it was freezing outside and my mobile phone had turned off. So I said: ‘why not?’They were offering a mass / service, and I decided to sit down and try to follow what the priest was saying. I don’t speak French, but I managed to sing as they were showing the lyrics on a big screen. So I must say that it’s a nice and friendly place that’s definitely worth visiting.

The use of the historic facade with the new cathedral is impressive. Beautiful cathedral and beautiful grounds.

Beautiful sacred space with ties to many historic figures and events. Well worth the visit even if one is not religiously inclined as the view of downtown Winnipeg across the river is just postcard perfect.
