When people ask me what our COVID dog Ralph learned during his board n train - most are surprised my answer is confidence.While my main goals were loose leash walking and reducing reactivity to other dogs - Holly quickly figured out what Ralph needed. He came home from board n train with confidence and skills we have been able to build on in the months since.Remember dog trainers train the humans and help dogs reset and learn new patterns. We continue to work on and with Ralph and leverage insights Holly provided. I've been grateful for her ongoing support and tips.If Holly was closer, I'd be doing day training to support the ongoing progress after his board n train. We got Draco, a German Shepherd/Mal cross at 10 weeks old. We were not planning on getting a puppy as we already have a 10 year old Australian Shepherd, but when we met him we fell in love instantly. It has been a real challenge having a puppy along side a very jealous Aussie who has never had to deal with a puppy before. We have also never had a large breed dog so that was another challenge we had to overcome. We decided to find a trainer who could help us with all of our wants and needs for Draco and found Jenn A at Grassroots Georgina. Jenn has made our lives with Draco so much easier. She is amazing with her methods, tips, tools and the customized training plan she has created for Draco. Jenn continues to encourage us to stay on top of our training and to not get discouraged when we have a rough day with Draco.We learn something new and helpful with every session we have with her. Draco also adores Jenn and has full trust and a great connection with her.

Highly recommend you put your trust in GrassrootsK9 Georgina…to be more specific Holly and her very qualified, dedicated team. I have a genetically reactive / fearful female GSD (Kona ). I first enrolled kona in the 10 home visit program. Kona struggled with reactivity inside the home as well is outside the home. kona’s main triggers were people ( family and friends included), dogs , sudden movements or sounds, grooming, and a general distrust / of most daily situations. Even at home with no triggers present her baseline anxiety was so high she would stress pant and would not settle unless chewing a bone or sleeping in the crate. In the 10 home visits Holly was able to determine a training plan tailored to Kona and for the behaviours we wanted to see him kona.Our goal was to use all the tools Holly provided us over the course of several months to get Kona’s confidence up enough to participate in the board and train program. The 3 week board and train was a game changer! We were sad and nervous to drop our puppy for that long. It was well worth it. Holly and her team sent regular updates on Kona’s progress and provided videos and homework for us to complete once kona came home. Once we got kona back she displayed a higher level on confidence in new or previously triggering situations, Calm behaviours around the home, improved impulse control when triggered. With these behaviour modification strategies in place we were able to actually enjoy our puppy.We no longer dreaded walks due to fears of potential triggers as they can be frustrating to handle when you do not know what to do. We do not think twice about having visitors to the house anymore because we know how to work her through that situation. It’s given us and kona a better quality of life and a deeper understanding of how to communicate effectively and be predictable for Kona.Life gets busy and sometimes we do not hold ourselves accountable to maintain all the progress. You will see your dog slip back into old habits if you do not keep up with the homework that is meant to be ongoing FOREVER! So do yourself and your wallet a favour and keep up with the training exercises. That is how you show your dog love not treats or cuddles!I wanted to provide a detailed review because I understand it’s a hard task deciding on a trainer. There is a financial cost that is hard for a-lot of people these days. Save up and invest your trust in grassroots . You and your K9 won’t regret it. We started taking our sweet, incredibly nervous, German shepherd puppy to Holly at Grassroots k9 Georgina when she was about 4 months old.Holly was incredible off the hop by coming to our house to meet our pup, assess her, and recommend her training plan. Since then we have utilized almost every option grassroots K9 Georgina offers, and our girl has made amazing strides. All of Holly’s staff we encounter are professional, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about working with dogs to improve their lives.We love the day train program, which allows us to drop Tula off for the day, and know that she is getting excellent and consistent care. She comes home fulfilled, tired, and happy from a full day of training. I would highly recommend Grassroots K9 to anyone looking for a dog trainer. Investing in our dogs training is the absolute best way to ensure they have a happy and healthy life with us.

I have owned many dogs, but never a reactive one. My anxious Covid puppy is fearful of others, barks at me incessantly and is very mouthy when excited. His biggest issue, was I could not walk him amongst other dogs.I first met Holly and her team from GrassrootsK9, Georgina when I signed up for Canine Camp. These sessions helped with Whiskey's reactivity and gave me hope that he could be a better dog.Whiskey has just completed 10 days of Board and Train. I can not believe how his demeanour has changed for the better and how they have successfully turned him into a respectful, well mannered gentleman.Having done Canine Camp, Board & Train and continuing with Day Train (Once a week), Whiskey's confidence is increasing as well as mine. He is now a pleasure to take on walks around the neighbourhood.At first, I was skeptical that Whiskey's behaviour could not change, but once I got on board with all of their suggestions and continued with the tools they have taught me to use at home, Whiskey has become a fun loving, obedient dog. “Mark” and “Decompression” are my new favourite tools.GrassrootsK9 sets you and your dog up for success!Many thanks to Holly and her team.Iris & Whiskey

I decided to bite the bullet and take my two doggies to board and train to work on their reactivity/leash walking skills So far I am very impressed when I brought my doggies home! I missed them a lot during the weeks but I knew it was going to be worth it! I had my main contacts with Holly and Jen, they were very lovely, caring and so knowledgable! I will be bringing my doggies to them again for sure for on going training :)

I can't say enough positive things about these guys. Incredible trainers and even better people. Decoy work was phenomenal. My team learned so much about training and our dogs!

The best of the best in k9 training!! Everyone I dealt with was extremely professional and knowledgeable! I had 100% confidence that my pup was safe and in good hands and I will definitely be rebooking in the future! Not only did I get updates through pics/video of his progress, I was given a thorough walk-through when I picked him up on how to continue working on his training!

We hired Holly to help us train our crazy german shepherd puppy, especially since we are first time dog owners. We did a combination of in-person sessions as well as a longer board and train session. Over our time training it’s hard to overstate the difference Holly made in our dog, Rosa; the most rewarding part of all is how everyone around us has said how much she’s changed for the better! Not only did Holly teach Rosa, but she helped us become better owners by teaching us what we were doing wrong, helping us understand Rosa’s body language and how to set her up for success going forward. Rosa has come a long way because of her training and we are highly confident in the dog she will become as she gets older. And although we’ve complete our training for now, Holly still continues to help us by answering our questions and offering advice.
