Had a great stay in my truck in the parking lot last night in the freezing cold. Didn't read the fine print and sure don't remember being told they close and go home at 11:30pm. I have been traveling for 20+ years. Never have I showed up at a hotel and been locked out. The icing on the cake was the woman working this morning at 6am laughing when I told her I slept in truck because they were closed. I will NEVER go back again.

Fine hotel, sucks that the gym and hot tub are closed still tho so basically it's a room to stay in which is fine.

Friendly, helpful, a 5 minute walk from the water and food. Breakfast was a bit limited, but still g9od (begals, cream cheese, eggs and yoghurt and coffee) but I think that's still covid related. Rooms were super clean, and the place had a nice feel to it.

I think it might be time for new beds...our room had 2 beds, both were equally uncomfortable. Also, when you are on holidays thinking the breakfast room should serve past 10am - very disappointed overall with the whole experience.

I recently visited Port McNeill and stayed for two nights at the Black Bear Resort. I was so pleased with the accommodations provided at Black Bear Resort that I wanted to write a review. The room we had was spotless, roomy, nicely decorated and homey, had everything you could need during an overnight stay and the bed was so comfortable. The view of the harbour from the resort was an added bonus and the staff were friendly and helpful in recommending places to eat. Between the good sleep and the good food, we had a very enjoyable stay in Port McNeill.

The manager needs to learn how to treat employees, as well as get rid of their bedbugs in an ethical manner. I was employed here from April- August of 2022 and had no issues until I found a bed bug in a room and reported it my manager. She told me not to tell the other staff members and then stated we leave the bed skirt on the bed in the room where the bug was found. She then wanted me to go from one hotel (Blackbear) to their other property (Humpback) which I told her I was not comfortable with and that I wanted to go home to wash up over text message. She proceeded to tell me that if I was not at work at the end of my lunch break I would no longer have a job, I politely said again that I want comfortable doing so and to let me know if I should be in the next day or not. She told me she would put me down as a quit and when I picked up my record of employment she had put me down as a fire. Bottom line don’t work here and check you room for bugs prior to staying! Or better yet find another hotel all together!

We stayed here for two days while visiting family. The staff were really friendly at checkin and our room was great! Loved the fact you can see the ocean and walk to all the little shops.

I stay here a dozen times a summer and early spring. It is clean and comfortable. The staff is excellent and always available to help with access to groceries, fuel and other services offered in the community. I will be back again this summer and suggest it to all my kayaking guests. Highly recommended.
