Willingdon Linear Park
I wouldn't suggest going out of your way to see this park, as it's just a grass field with a shared pedestrian and bicycle path going through it. I'm pretty sure the city only called this a park for extra funding. That being said, it makes my walk to work more pleasant so 4 stars! Would give it a 5 star rating of they divided the path into bicycles and pedestrians seperately so I don't feel as though I am risking my life in the mornings.

Maybe ok for walkers but for cyclists the south end of the trail ends at the NW corner of Brentwood Mall. That is 350 M short of reaching Lougheed Highway bike lane. For this stretch cyclists will have to brave the road with cars, heavy trucks, and buses. As for the playground and rest areas, I am not sure if the public will find it attractive hanging out next to busy Willingdon Ave. $15 M seems to be a crazy amount of money for 1.2 km long trail/park".For residence of the new Brentwood town center it is still a distance of 2 km to the nearest community center

It's a place you walk by. Your life will not be improved by its existence but it is better than nothing.

Great idea. Ideal path for beginner cyclists but not if you're experienced riding on the road. YOU HAVE TO STOP AT EVERY STREET CROSSING because there'll always be a car that will drive right past a stop sign and force you to slam your brakes. Actually feel safer riding on the road because of that. That being said, having a dedicated bike/pedestrian pathway along Willingdon is a great initiative to make cycling more accessable to people of all abilities.

Typical City of Burnaby stupidity here, the opening featured $7 lemonade, $10 donairs and the Engineering crew giving dirty looks, and one was even passed out on a garbage bin. Where's the free hot dogs? Everything was powered by gas generators, the city trucks were on demo and idling away. Now a month later all the trees they planted are dead. Multi use paths do not work unless there are clear division lines for cyclist and pedestrians, it's a no brainier. Time to wake up Burnaby and take note from Vancouver, and pretty much every other municipality around you. Another note of stupidity from Sav... it's not for commuting on" well then give an alternative then! there is no safe north south route period!"

This is more of a urban walkway with a couple of pocket parks at either end. The thirteen block comfortable path meanders for 1.2 kms along Willingdon from Brentwood Dr to Hastings st. The first pocket park has a water fountain, art installation, long benches, and colorful sculptural panels. These multi colored panels follow the entire pathway up to the second pocket park at Parker Street. The hammock was stiff and well I didn't feel the need to lay down but rather test my ankle stability by walking on it. The park was opened in 2018 with over 200 trees planted along this outdoor hallway. The painted electrical/utility boxes along the way is a nice touch as well.

Thanks for making this path but why is it so cheesy looking? I feel horrible for the houses right beside the linear park as they have ugly structures right beside it. Wish they had incorporated more of a natural/west coast look instead of abstract cheesiness.

Such a great idea to create a park parallel to houses and bringing more nature and green spaces to our urban landscape.

Great use of urban space for multi-use path, and mindfull to look before crossing streets on park pathway.
