My grandmother lived here for about 4 years, and during her time at Nikkei, the staff made sure she was comfortable and well cared for. It is a great place for Japanese seniors, as the staff speak Japanese and they serve Japanese food. I would recommend it for any Japanese seniors looking for the comforts of home.

My mother spent many years in this facility. It offered a very friendly environment as the staff was always engaging and approachable. Unfortunately, this is the only positive part of the service offered. Mom entered Nikkei a few years after it first opened in 2002. The newness of the place was refreshing, offering a clean, well maintained facility but upkeep did not keep in step with much needed repair and maintenance which naturally comes hand in hand with normal wear and tear through each passing year. Rating for cleanliness doesn't even register on the chart of 1-5 stars. When we moved mom out recently, there were four mice traps in the suite, a beginning of a house that mice were building under her china cabinet, large carpet stain on her living room carpet and dusting which obviously hadn't been done through the whole isolation time of over 12-14 months. As this is an assisted living facility, a simple phone call to notify me of the filthy carpet would have allowed me to pay whatever extra cost was required to have it cleaned. Can't even begin to comment on the numerous complaints about the meals served, with no change or medical care, at times, being questionable. All we should ever want for our parents is to live out their latter years retaining some dignity.
