I've been going here since moving to Montreal and made great connections with the owner and staff. Their all friendly and informative just as long as you talk to them. A great place to hangout, talk and learn about cameras. The prices are fair for the equipment they provide. My suggestion if visiting or checking out the store is to browse and ask a lot of question about cameras you're interested in and always try-out the cameras. Because it's a smaller store they are limited to stock but they do have a lot of special finds if you know what your looking for.

I came looking for a cheap digital camera and they really made sure I got the best option. They managed to give me one with a student discount and extra storage. I've been using it for the past few days and the pictures are really good quality. They also offer a warranty in case it breaks or malfunctions so I feel very good about my purchase. Glad I didn't just get one off of Facebook marketplace.

I bought a flash form here and later found out it was way over priced. I was very new to buying gear at the time so I decided to put my trust to them. Also, the flash was not compatible with my camera even though they assured me it was. Obviously, the money was more important to them. I won't shop here in the future.

Really disappointed with my last purchase. I bought a jvc mini dv camera for 200$, they stated it works perfectly fine and I trusted them since it's not my first purchase with them. After a couple of days, I tried to use it, but the battery doesn't even last 5min and the camera can't properly read my tape, so all my footages were useless.I went back to the store, got told to buy a new battery and that they can't do much about my camera not being able to read my tape. So it was a lost cause.I'm a student who doesn't work much because of school and it hurts to feel like I threw away 200$ for a camera I wasn't able to successfully use.Overall it's a good shop but please be aware of what you're buying and ask ton of questions before buying cameras there.

One of the biggest film camera store in Canada! You can find from top cameras like Leica, Hasselblad to easy film point and shoot. And if you are also interestingly super 8 or 16mm movie film photoTek could be the heaven!

THE BEST CAMERA STORE !! PhotoTek is truly a gem. Besides having an incredibly wide range of cameras, the owner, Bobby, is incredibly knowledgeable, resourceful, and kind. He has always pointed me in the right direction and given me an unbeatable price. I have bought a yashica j mini, manual film (vintage mimaya), and multiple super 8 cameras, each one in incredible vintage condition and working brilliantly. For each camera, Bobby has also always managed to find me the perfect case to protect it, something I greatly appreciate ! PhotoTek also offers camera accessories, film, everything you could need. The store is a dream for any creative ! I have included some photos below of the shots I’ve taken on the cameras bought here and a shot of the store. I really love this shop, one of the best secrets. Honestly my favorite camera store in the world !

I'm from Toronto and decided I had to visit this store as it's hard to find used film cameras around here. Beautiful store too, small but cozy feeling like an analog lover's dream. I was looking for an Olympus OM line and the owner, Bobby, took his time to compare the two models he had, the OM-10 and OM-1, giving his personal preference without being too pushy and offering his advice while answering any question I had. I bought the OM-1 and he took his time to show me everything I needed to know about a manual camera and even offered me a roll of film. I recently had it developed and it turned out beautiful with no problems at all! Thanks Bobby!

I went in to pickup a second hand DSLR and the service was amazing. I was served by Bobby, who spent well over an hour showing me different cameras and testing them out. I would definitely recommend this place to someone who is interested in purchasing a used camera or photography equipment.

Be wary of buying cameras here and trusting their word. Although they say they “test” their cameras — clearly they do not. I bought a $200 film camera there last month. While they offer a 30 day exchange period - they didn’t reply to emails or my inquiries about mailing it to them since I live in New York State. So unless you live locally to Montreal, I would NOT suggest buying a camera from this place since if it ends up not working (seems like I’m not the first one this has happened to) you are out of luck. I feel like I wasted $200 since the function on the camera that is broken is the self timer and I am a self portraiture artist. I am a student currently so $200 is a lot of money for me and sadly now I can’t continue to create my work since this was my budget for a camera. Clearly this camera was not fully tested so I don’t know why they advertise quality tested cameras when they don’t actually fully work. I trusted this store because of the reputation and review but I regret buying the camera and trusting this store. The film prices are the same as anywhere else or even more expensive so I’d just personally skip this store and get my supplies elsewhere. I wish I had better experience because the store was cute and I really wanted to give them business and a good review. However I didn’t want anyone to make the same mistakes as I did.
