Rooms vary significantly and some of the features listed on their website aren’t available in every dorm room. I stayed in one room that was great and from just that stay I’d have given the place 5/5 stars but the second time I stayed, the room was a lot worse. The lockers were tiny and there was very little place for bags so most of my stuff had to be stored in lockers outside the room, the night table and privacy curtains were gone, I saw a mouse in the kitchen on several occasions and the bathrooms didn’t seem to be cleaned very often. Love the free breakfast and dinner and after Vancouver, the prices here are very reasonable but it seems like luck if you get a good room or not.

I’ve stayed here twice now, and have had nothing but great experiences. The facilities are very clean and the staff are always so friendly and willing to answer any questions. The rooms I have stayed in have been thoroughly cleaned and the shared bathrooms have also always been clean when I’ve used them. The location is so central and great transit wise! The building is older and has so much cool character and a great vibe. Also you can’t beat the free breakfast provided, such an awesome addition. I’ve only had the dinner provided once but it was so good. They also have lockers you can leave your bag in for the day after you check out. I’d highly recommended staying here and I’ll definitely be back!

I've been backpacking for 17 years (currently in my mid 30s) and this hostel reminds me of old school backpacking at it's finest - free breakfast, dinner and a free drink - an in house bar, TVs playing random sitcoms all day and plenty of weirdos and charters to boot. It's an absolute gem and I'd strongly recommend it, especially if traveling alone.Would have given 5 stars, but the bed wasn't great - maybe a sign of getting old! - but it was clean at least.

Honestly, best hostel I’ve been in Canada! The rooms and beds are cosy (most have curtains and you can have your intimacy). Atmosphere is colorful and friendly, the breakfast is really nice, you can have a free beer at the small bar they are animating at night. You even have diner! For free !! It’s perfect to meet new people, make plan for the day after and all in all have a good time. And I absolutely loved the small home-made leaflets describing the best restaurants, the best hikes, and all the tips to enjoy the city, that are available at the front desk. Thank you for your work !!

The staff here are very friendly and helpful. 24/7 staff which allow late check in, which is very convenient. Also, there is a free breakfast, a free beer each night and they actually enforce the quest hours. Great location right in downtown too. All in all, this is one of the best hostels I've visited!

Great hostel, central location and friendly staff.I would love to rate this 5/5 as the staff were great, and the 'free' beer was a nice touch, good way to build community in the hostel!I booked fairly last minute for a weekend trip with my partner, and the room was $104 per night. The bill for two nights came up to $400 due to the site using USD without advertising that clearly, as well as nearly $100 of hidden fees, despite booking directly on the website, from Canada, to a Canadian hostel...Cheapest option in Victoria even with all of that, just disappointing that two nights at $104 came out to $400 after everything. For this, the plugs in the room didn't work, which is a small thing, but for $200/night you'd expect it to all be running a bit smoother. I didn't reach out to the front desk, and perhaps had I done that they would have fixed it, so that may be on me.Great location, nice community, just a bit vague pricing that really sneaks up, seems a bit much for a hostel, but perhaps that's just the post covid hotel reality

This is by far one of the best hostels I’ve ever come across and I been to 25 countries and so so many hostels. It was super clean and the room was just great. The staff was great and super friendly. The type of atmosphere you hope for in a hostel. The laundry room was great . Easy to use front load washer and dryer. The free breakfast was simple and convenient and the free dinner they offered every evening was just fantastic !I honestly just loved this place and the location is amazing. Close to the bus to the ferry so easy to find and depart from.I definitely recommend this place.Hope to come stay again as it’s a jewel of a place that works well for every walk of life.

Rented a dorm, and it felt basically like a hotel. Of course super tiny, and very few amenities, but didn't expect any more than that from a hostel. Bathrooms were always clean and open, kitchen stocked with basic tools (pack your own camping utensils and you're SET), and the common areas always had people around. The employees felt like your peers, not hotel employees or anything which was nice. Felt very safe, and wasn't in a bad part of town at all. Gave 4 stars for the increased number of homeless people in the area which asked for beer and stuff a few times, but we're very respectful actually. As a Californian, this is no surprise. Basically a stripped down, but more social/travel oriented hotel at half the cost of alternatives in Victoria. Staff was knowledgeable too, and the location was great in terms of walking to attractions/restaurants, and had many bus stops nearby. Felt very safe for a first time hostel stayer but long time traveler. Would definitely choose to stay here over any of the more expensive hotels, so long as you just need a place to rest your head.

This is a great hostel. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. As a budget traveller I really appreciated that breakfast and supper come with the room, it makes a huge different in how expensive it is to travel to Victoria. Nice atmosphere in the hostel, not a party place. A diverse clientele, mostly people in their 20's and 30's, but also some older visitors. The downtown location is easy to get around on foot or with the buses. I am a woman travelling alone and I felt safe, both in the hostel and walking around the surrounding neighbourhood.

I’ve stayed in many hostels before and this one is definitely the most unclean I’ve been to. Booked a private room with sink, so shared washrooms. The room itself was clean but the bed was very uncomfortable and the fridge didn’t work (wasn’t an issue bc we didn’t need it in the end). The pillows had a weird baked bean smell so not sure what that was about?!The washrooms near us on our floor were actually disgusting, there were the same mysterious yellow stains and hairs on the toilet and shower for the 3 days from when we arrived to when we left. The shower head was also broken. The location is convenient for walking and i guess free breakfast is a good extra, but we didn’t try it ourselves.Usually when booking a hostel I’m expecting basic amenities and for them to be clean. The dirtiness of the hostel outweighed the amenities in this case, on top of being the most expensive hostel I’ve ever been to. If you have the option to go for somewhere else then do that!
