The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy

Love the expert advice and fast service Rosalia and her team offer to me each time I'm in the pharmacy. My vaccines were also done quickly and on time. Very professional!

I was helped to find a cane by a very nice male associate (apologies I don’t remember anyone’s names) who explained how it worked (my first time) and went over different options with me (canes vs walking poles, etc.). I was very pleased with his service, and then just as we were leaving, a female associate came rushing up and started a little speech by saying “it might not be my place, but…” and continued without hesitation to suggest that I needed to join their weight loss program because they have two doctors overseeing it and that way my arthritis won’t be so bad, etc. I was very unimpressed, I did not come in to be given unsolicited advice on my weight and did not appreciate the presumption. My health other than what I came in for is no one’s business besides mine and my actual doctor’s. I would have given this store 5/5 for the service I received with the cane but 0/5 for the rest. Since I can’t give 2.5 I rounded it up to 3. So thank you very much for the suggestions, sir, but we will not be coming back to this location. Unsolicited health advice is generally quite unwelcome and I would feel more comfortable shopping somewhere that I know I am not being scrutinized for other problems I didn’t ask for help with.

I accompanied my partner into the store today when she was in looking for a cane. The gentleman that helped her choose one was very professional and helpful but the unsolicited service we got from the pharmacist behind the counter was completely inappropriate. She took no part in the interaction between ourselves and the man helping us but popped in towards the end of the exchange with a brochure and started a sentence with 'this might not be my place, but' before proceeding to plug their medically supervised weight loss program to us. She had no knowledge of my partner's background, health status, current and past interventions for her condition, or related history and did not once ask about any of it before telling my partner weight loss would be helpful for her. It was completely inappropriate, presumptuous, unwelcome, and downright rude. We understand that pharmacists are exceptionally knowledgeable about more than just the medications they dispense, but this particular woman needs to learn to either wait until she is asked for advice or to elicit a proper history from a customer before tactfully inquiring as to whether or not they would like further information on other modalities that might help their particular condition. In addition to this, I am in active recovery from a debilitating restrictive eating disorder and the shameless plug for weight loss ahead of interventions to help her function comfortably in her current situation was incredibly triggering. I absolutely cannot fathom how this pharmacist thought this was ethical. This entire interaction has just floored me. We will not be returning and would caution others against seeking help at this pharmacy lest they wind up on the wrong end of some very clearly deeply ingrained ableism and fatphobia.

Fantastic little pharmacy! Got my booster here and they’re very organized and thoughtful re: COVID safety (I got to wait in a private room with an air purifier). Would visit here again!

I was reluctant to transfer my prescriptions from Highlands to Rosalia's pharmacy, after I moved to the neighbourhood. Practicality won, and I became a customer of the Medicine Shoppe on 82 Ave. Today, I wish I did it sooner. What a great personal service! Even with recent cutbacks, Rosalia did not compromise on the outstanding quality of work. If you are looking for the best - this pharmacy is for you!

All of the personnel at this pharmacy are very caring, conscientious, personable and professional. They don't just fill your prescription but they explain it to you in detail. Plus, they take the time to actively listen to the concerns you have.

The best pharmacist we've seen. Family owned business. Great staff and efficient. We took our kids there for flu shots and it was super quick in and out. My 6yr old son didn't even know the needle went in. Usually he cries like crazy every year at the big flu shot clinic. This is the first time he was okay with it. Will be coming back from now on. Thank you so much.

Rosalia is one of the best pharmacists I've worked with. She really cares about getting things right and offers other things too like pharmacogenetic testing and compression stockings. I get my kids' flu vaccines there. She is fastidious about cleanliness also which is a bonus.

We recently made this our pharmacy of choice as we find that the pharmacists and all staff are highly professional, and exude a sense of customer centric service. We have also had flu and Covid shots here and never even feel the injection. There is a willing and responsible attitude to help, and a sense of seeking to have a caring professional who is serving one’s interests every time you enter, made available. We are very glad to have this pharmacy in a convenient location and accessible to us. Highly recommend the team.
