Days Inn by Wyndham Nanaimo

We checked in the pet friendly room as we had a dog. The moment we stepped in, the smell was unbearable. We had to open the window and turn the fan on all day long. The smell was gone after the housekeeper cleaned the room on the 2nd day. Overall, the room was cleaned. The bathroom was so small. The bathtub and the toilet took up the entire bathroom. I had to be in the bathtub to open the door. Just like most hotels, the mattress was so soft. The hallway was cleaned and had no smell. The breakfast was good. They offered coffee, milk, orange juice, apple juice, cereals, muffins, bagels, yogurts, boiled eggs, etc. until 9:30 am. The swimming pool was not big but a good size for kids. The hottub can fit 6 adults. There was plenty of self parking. The hotel was right on the highway and within 5 minutes from the downtown. Check-in and check out were easy. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I liked that Ricky's Grill was on site.

Ok for the price but pretty average for a two star hotel. Staff friendly and facility clean except for mold on bathroom ceiling. Time for a renovation. Bathroom design is awkward and not enough privacy if you are sharing a room with someone you don’t want watching you. Brown on brown decor very 80’s. Scuff marks throughout and poor drywall paint repairs. Couldn’t get the TV to work with two different controllers and no instructions. Bed mattresses need replacing and an upgrade. Easy access off main road but older part of town and no adjacent stores/restaurants. Will probably try a different hotel next time but OK in a pinch.

Checking in was a long waitRooms overall good but beds were awful. Uncomfortable and squeaky.Breakfast offered was not appealing. Not much for selection. Frozen waffles, soggy bagels, muffins gross.Pet friendly as we brought our cat, but our neighbor had 2 dogs and a cat. When checking in the pet agreement stated no pets over 40 lbs which both dogs were, and only 2 pets..she had 3.Close to what we needed but location was close to the reserve and was not visually appealing at all.

Room was sufficient, nothing special. What was special was maintenance banging on the wall like they were doing a full on reno next door at 10am.I'm part of a whole crew of people staying here while we work a night shift and we've told them that repeatedly. I yelled through the wall please stop im trying to sleep. Just kept going, didn't care one bit.

Check in was about 30 mins late and housekeeping was rushed. My daughter found some old food and dirty clothing under her bed. The internet provided is very, very slow. Pool was nice for the kids. The hotel is fine for a short visit and a place to sleep. Don't expect much.

Room was filthy. My entire family had black feet. Not great when you have a crawling baby. Half of the room had no electricity, lights, tv. The switch to turn it on and off did not work. Had to call 3 times before someone came to unplug a clogged toilet. Do not replace amenities like coffee daily, despite still charging you full room rates.

July 5 2023 - Clean and spacious room, bit loud but cold AC, breakfast was good in my opinion, parking lot does have security checking in. Vicki, Kyla and the afternoon gentleman are outstanding, great customer service, patient and understanding. Afternoon gentleman is welcoming, greets you every time. Vicki is a sweet heart, she would be the grandmother that everyone wishes for. Kyla gives good honest suggestions for trips. Last but not least, as much credit needs to be given to the cleaning ladies, I believe she may be Ukrainian, forgive me if I’m wrong, super hard worker, very friendly and very appreciated

Comfy and clean. Very thin walls as I could hear the person's in the adjoining room cough but fortunately they were quiet at night so I slept well. Lots of signs outside on the building stating do not leave valuables in vehicle plus a sketchy part of town so beware. I brought in everything from my vehicle and then parked it in front of my window without issues. I chose this place because of the pool and hot tub. Hot tub was mediocre as the jets are not very powerful and temperature was ok. Also to note, my room was on the ground floor, one below the main floor with check in and no elevator... only stairs. Challenging. Impossible if you have a disability. Included breakfast was continental with little to no gluten free options. Kind and courteous front desk staff.
