Brannen Lake Beach and Boat Launch
One of my favorite spots in the city, honestly. Nothing quite embodies the spirit of Nanaimo like a view of a white collar prison yard on one side, and million dollar lakefront properties on the other. There's quite a bit of lake weed in the swimming area, but the slimey caress reminds me of my first boyfriend, so that's the main reason I come here.Anyways, my review was 3.5, but I'm bumping it up to 4 since they put in a port-o-potty recently, and I normally have to upgrade to a thousand dollar glamping package at Coachella to get that kind of service.

Nice quaint lake access. Gets really busy and new traffic management 'upgrade' was a total waste tax money and makes life harder to navigate with a trailer.[Update Aug2022] an accident with the tDock earlier in the year means it's now missing most of its length. There is only room for 1 boat and it is quite shallow.

My favorite place to go boating and swimming. Not a very big beach area but a clean lake. The only disappointment is that they hardly ever clean the outhouse and it is disgusting. Free life jackets to use for kids that people donate.

Great little Lake to catch a fish and go for a boat ride. It's a great launch and dock, but a very small lake. The water is warm for a swim and it's usually calm and protected. I don't like the speed bumps leading up to the launch tho ☺️

Came down tonite to throw the boat in the water and the launch is closed. Seems someone has smashed into the boat dock and totalled the last float is ruined and sunk under water. Sorry didnt take a picture. Didnt stick around.

Good boat launch with nice little swimming area. The parking is good for cars but just adequate for trucks and boat trailers. Is is popular spot so be prepared for traffic.

Small beach that fills up quickly but worth it for the kids. The dock is close and safe for swimming. Be sure to wash after you swim. The water is always nice and the kids love it.

Cute little Beach near the boat launch for swimming. Two rafts to swim to and picnic tables up above the sand. Served us perfectly for killing time on a hot day going to the ferry.
